To the extent the crowd know, they are their parentsââ¬â¢ just posterity, the main other ââ¬Ëchildrenââ¬â¢ in the family are Benvolio and Tybalt, cousins to Romeo and Juliet individually. As just youngsters, their folks are normally defensive of them â⬠Julietââ¬â¢s father, particularly. We will compose a custom exposition test on Romeo and Juliet Act 3 Scene 5 or then again any comparable subject just for you Request Now Towards the start of the play, in Act 1, Scene 2, Paris approaches Capulet for authorization to wed his little girl. In Elizabethan occasions (when the play was composed and performed), it was the activity of the dad to part with the little girl, as though she were a present or his property, as opposed to her own individual. As opposed to simply part with his little girl to Paris, a youthful aristocrat, brother to the ruler, and somebody who might be viewed as a ââ¬Ëgood catchââ¬â¢ for a spouse, he lets him know: ââ¬ËBut going oââ¬â¢er what I have said previously, My kid is yet an outsider on the planet, She hath not seen the difference in fourteen years, Let two additional summers shrivel in their pride, Ere we may think her ready to be a brideââ¬â¢ From this discourse Capulet is defensive of his girl, and while he needs her to wed a fine man (she advises Paris to return two years), he doesnââ¬â¢t need her to grow up too rapidly. No doubt he has her eventual benefits on a basic level. In the accompanying scene, we first observe the connections among Juliet and her medical caretaker and mother. Her mom appears to be to some degree withdrawn from her little girl, requesting that the medical attendant find herâ⬠¦ (ââ¬ËNurse, whereââ¬â¢s my girl? Call her forward to meââ¬â¢) and doesnââ¬â¢t appear to have the option to converse with her girl, other than through the medical attendant or in her quality ââ¬ËThis is the matter:ââ¬Nurse, give leave some time, We should talk in secret:ââ¬nurse, return once more; I have rememberââ¬â¢d me, thouââ¬â¢s hear our guidance. Thou knowââ¬â¢st my daughterââ¬â¢s of a pretty age.. ââ¬â¢ However, she appears to have some thought for her daughterââ¬â¢s emotions and wishes, as she solicits her what she thinks from wedding the aristocrat, and to begin pondering marriage; she likewise gives her discourse somewhat more close to home by placing in her very own portion understanding (that she was a mother at the age her little girl currently is): ââ¬ËWell, consider marriage now; more youthful than you, Here in Verona, women of regard, Are made as of now moms: by my ount, I was your mom much upon these yearsââ¬â¢ Whereas Juliet appears to regard her mom (first alluding to her as ââ¬ËMadamââ¬â¢ as opposed to, maybe, mum or Mother), she is by all accounts more calm conversing with her medical attendant . No doubt Juliet and her medical caretaker have consistently been closeâ⬠¦ even to the point of the attendant assuming control over the customary motherââ¬â¢s employment of breastfeeding h er youngster. She makes a reference to this in a similar scene: ââ¬ËAnd she was weanââ¬â¢d,ââ¬I never will overlook it,ââ¬Of all the times of the year, upon that day: For I had then laid wormwood to my dug,ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ËWhen it tasted the wormwood on the areola Of my burrowed and felt it unpleasant, pretty imbecile, To see it bad-tempered and drop out with the burrowed! ââ¬â¢ Above, the medical caretaker talks of breastfeeding Juliet. This is, obviously, surprising these days, however not exactly incomprehensible in Elizabethan occasions. The affectionate style where the attendant recalls this, in any case, appear to show that Juliet and the medical caretaker have a solid relationship. The way that she was bosom taken care of by her medical attendant as opposed to her natural mother implies that maybe the medical caretaker was (and is? ) even more a mother to her than Lady Capulet. The attendant likewise appears to be more amicable than Lady Capulet â⬠by making statements, for example, ââ¬ËAmen, youngster! Woman, such a man as all the world â⬠why, heââ¬â¢s a man of waxââ¬â¢ andââ¬Ë Go, young lady, look for upbeat evenings to glad daysââ¬â¢, she is by all accounts more amped up for Parisââ¬â¢s suggestion than Lady Capulet. Act 3, scene 5 here and there appears to be a twisted impression of Act 1, scenes 2 and 3. Capulet has organized to wed Juliet off to Paris, and by and by it is Lady Capulet that has the activity of advising her. Be that as it may, the Capuletsââ¬â¢ positions on Juliet in regards to marriage have changed. Rather than needing to shield his little girl from an early marriage, Capulet is presently the one attempting to surge her into it. In like manner, her mom, as opposed to approaching Juliet for her musings on the issue, is mentioning to her what is Going to occur. Juliet has recently gone through her wedding night with her dearest and now spouse, Romeo. He has been exiled to the city of Mantua for avenging the homicide of his companion Mercutio. The scene begins on very tense grounds, as Juliet has nearly been gotten with her darling, who is a sworn foe of her family and faces execution whenever found in Verona. Essentially Romeo being in the house is sufficient to make some strain â⬠that Juliet is crying uplifts this pressure. Julietââ¬â¢s mother demonstrates herself to be somewhat unfeeling by successfully revealing to her little girl that crying isnââ¬â¢t going to bring anybody back, and that it demonstrates her to be somewhat dumb: ââ¬ËTherefore, have done: some distress shows a lot of love; But quite a bit of anguish shows still some need of mind. Woman Capulet then gives her numbness of Julietââ¬â¢s marriage and affections for Romeo by advising Juliet not to sob for Tybaltââ¬â¢s demise, however that Romeo lives. Romeo is alluded to as the ââ¬Ëvillainââ¬â¢ a few times â⬠this adds accentuation to the way that the Capulets consider Romeo to be a terrible individual. Juliet murmurs, aside to the crowd, that she accepts that Romeo and ââ¬Ëvillainââ¬â¢ are ââ¬Ëmany miles asunderââ¬â¢. This affirms to the crowd that Juliet and her mom have contradicting sees. Woman Capulet keeps, considering Romeo a ââ¬Ëtraitor murdererââ¬â¢ and takes steps to send somebody to Mantua to kill Romeo. The crowd would prefer not to see Romeo be killed, since they can perceive how enamored he and Juliet are. Shakespeare then cunningly creates a discourse for Juliet that has double significance. ââ¬ËIndeed, I never will be happy With Romeo, till I view himââ¬deadâ⬠Is my poor heart for a brother vexââ¬â¢d. Madam, on the off chance that you could discover yet a manTo bear a toxic substance, I would temper it;That Romeo should, upon receipt thereof,Soon snooze calm. O, how my heart severely dislikes To hear him named, and can't come to him. To unleash the adoration I bore my cousin Upon his body that slaughterââ¬â¢d him! ââ¬â¢ The accentuation toward the start can be adjusted to sound diversely to the crowd than Lady Capulet would hear it. It could be perused ââ¬ËIndeed, I never will be happy with Romeo, till I observe him, dead â⬠[dead] is my poor heart for a brother vexââ¬â¢dââ¬â¢,where the brother is the butchered Tybaltâ⬠¦ or ââ¬ËIndeed, I never will be happy with Romeo, till I see him. Dead is my poor heartâ⬠¦a brother vexââ¬â¢dââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ ¦ where Romeo isnââ¬â¢t dead, only a brother (spouse) vexed (in trouble). She says that in the event that she could discover a toxic substance that would let Romeo ââ¬Ësleep in quietââ¬â¢, she would temper it. While Lady Capulet would consider this to be her little girl needing to harm Romeo and slaughter him, the crowd may accept it as her needing to take Romeoââ¬â¢s inconveniences (I. e. their partition) away with the goal that he can rest calmly around evening time. Increasingly attentive individuals from the crowd may likewise interface this to the completion of the play, where Juliet incidentally harms herself with an end goal to take care of her and Romeoââ¬â¢s issues. When Juliet says that her ââ¬Ëheart loathes to hear him named, and can't come to him. To unleash the adoration [she] bore [her] cousin upon his body that slaughterââ¬â¢d himââ¬â¢, her mom accepts this as not having the option to lay her hands upon himâ⬠¦ yet the crowd clearly understands that she implies that it harms her to hear his name and not have the option to be with himâ⬠¦ maybe even to get sexual delight out of him. The crowds likely could be stunned by these desires that are well past her years â⬠recall that she is just 13. The strain now would work, as Juliet is playing a risky game by playing with her words this way. The sign that Juliet needs to ââ¬Ëwreak her affection upon himââ¬â¢ may likewise have been very shockingâ⬠¦ crowds of the time would not have been so presented to such obtrusive references to sins of the tissue. At the point when Lady Capulet announces that Julietââ¬â¢s father has orchestrated a marriage for her in a couple of days, the crowd may feel a snappy dropping sensation in their stomachs â⬠for they realize that Juliet is as of now wedded â⬠and in this way can't wed Paris â⬠and that this implies the mystery marriage among Juliet and her Romeo might be found. She additionally by and by gives her obliviousness of Julietââ¬â¢s genuine sentiments by being under the feeling that the marriage will perk Juliet up â⬠not exacerbate her issues. She utilizes reiteration of the word ââ¬Ëjoyââ¬â¢ here to underscore what she presumes Juliet ought to feel. Juliet strikes back by saying: ââ¬ËNow, by Saint Peterââ¬â¢s Church and Peter as well, He will not make me there a blissful lady of the hour. I wonder at this scurry; I should marry Ere he, that ought to be spouse, comes to charm. I implore you, tell my ruler and father, madam, I won't wed at this point; and, when I do, I swear, It will be Romeo, whom you realize I loathe, Rather than Paris. These are news in reality! ââ¬â¢ Juliet depends on Saint Peters Church and Peter tooââ¬â¢ â⬠Elizabethan crowd wouldfind this ungodly and stunning. I have really enjoyed learning more about her and I think that you may learn something new as well. Maya had divorced parents almost her entire life and lived with her paternal grandma for many years. She had one sibling an older brother named Bailey. Throughout her life Maya overcame many struggles and barriers. Maya Angelou is a woman of astounding intelligence and strength. Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born with the name Marguerite Annie Johnson. At the age of three Mayas parents got divorced and her older brother Bailey and her were sent to Stamps, Arkansas. Where they lived withà their paternal grandmother. Bailey still couldnt pronounce marguerite and gave her the nickname Maya. As the two of them grew they held a tight bond and helped their grandma and crippled Uncle run the store. They went to school and played games with the other black kids in Stamps. One Christmas Bailey and Maya each received a present from their mom and a present from their dad. Maya was starstruck that she had gotten gifts from her parents. Before that Maya had nothing else to believe other than her parents were dead. Later that year their dad showed up at the doorstep. He arrived in a fancy car and used very nice English skills. His name was Bailey Johnson and he stayed for a couple of weeks. He was a very funny man and there was laughter each night. One day Big Bailey said he was leaving and the children were to go with him. The next day they climbed into the car and drove to St. Louis where their mom was living. Their moms name was Vivian Baxter Johnson and she was stunningly beautiful. In St. Louis Bailey and Maya enrolled in the Toussaint LOuverture Grammar School. After a bit they were moved up a grade because of their work at the store in Stamps. Their arithmetic was outstanding and their reading skills were fantastic too. Every night Mayas mom would make dinner and then go out and party. While she was gone her boyfriend Mr. Freeman would come home and sit down to wait for her. Before bed Bailey and Maya would read book after book. Sometimes on weekends Maya would get scared and couldnt fall asleep as she was pulled into the dark, scary stories she was reading. On thoughs nights her mom would let her sleep in the bed with her and Mr. Freeman. One morning Maya woke in her parents bed, her mom was leaving for an early errand and Maya fell back asleep. That morning Maya experienced being held in inappropriate manners by Mr. Freeman. He knew Maya adored Bailey and he threatened to kill Bailey if she told anyone. A month later Maya jumped onto Mr. Freemans lap slightly longing for his strong arms to hug her again. Then she was over it and found a routine to go to the library every Saturday. One Saturday as Bailey was leaving to go play basketball and Maya was headed to the library Mr. Freeman stopped Maya and asked her to go get milk. She went to the store and hurried back. As she was about to leave again but Mr. Freeman stopped her and told her to come over. He raped her that day and she felt striking pain not knowing what was going on. All she could do after that was go hide the evidence and lay in bed. Everyone thought that she was sick and the doctor was called in multiple times to check on her. A few days later her mom insisted she take a bath and that the sheets need to be washed. But as Bailey took of the sheet the one bit of evidence was uncovered. The next thing she knew she was in the hospital with Bailey hovering over her asking who did it. Maya was brave but she couldnt bring herself to risk her brothers death so all she could explain was that the man would kill Bailey if she ever told. Bailey reassured her by saying no one could kill him and her little seve n year old believed him. She told him and after she healed and was told multiple times by many nurses that she didnt have anything to worry about now and the worst is over for you. Next Maya had to face courte, where most of the adult population of St. Louis was there to hear more on the latest excitement. At the time she didnt really know what happened and only could assume that Mr. Freeman had done something really bad. Mr. Freeman got jail time of a year and one day, although that didnt last for long. His lawyer got him out later that day and he was found kicked to death in a parking lot. Everyone new that Mayas uncles killed him, they were some of the most violent people in St. Louis. When Maya heard of this occurrence she stopped speaking and went mute. She thought that her talking had killed the man and that people may just die in her footsteps if she talked to them. She only had one exception, Bailey she new that she loved Bailey way to much for her speech to kill him. They were sent back to the small town of Stamps and helped their grandma in the store once again. A few years later Maya remained mute but a nice women Mrs. Flowers who lived in Little Roc k, Arkansas with a little bungalow in Stamps brought her back to her love of books and introduced her to poetry. Maya graduated eighth grade almost at the top of the class with a perfect attendance. Maya was mute for six years before she gathered the courage to speak again. At the age of twelve Maya found out that she and Bailey would be going to California to live with their mom. She and her grandma went first and Bailey came a month later because of payment. They lived in an apartment in Las Angeles until their mom had a living situation ready in Oakland. In Oakland Maya attended High school and took dance and drama classes. During her final year of high school Maya became pregnant and had a son right after graduation. Then she moved out of the house as a single mom and worked hard to support her son. This is when she started her adult life. Maya Angelou had an adulthood full of fighting for Civil Rights and adventure. She married a Greek sailor named Anastasios Angelopulos in 1952. She went on a tour in Europe from 1954 to 1955 for the Opera Porgy and Bess. maya continued to study dance and released an album in 1957 called Calypso Lady. By the end of the 1950s she wanted to improve her writing and joined the Harlem writers guild and joined many young writers who were passionate about civil rights. Maya also wrote and acted in a number of movies such as The Blackers and Cabaret To Freedom. When she and her new husband moved to Cairo she was an editor for the english weekly of The Arab Observer. Next they moved to Ghana where she was an instructor and assistant administrator for the University of Ghanas school of music and dance. Maya was also the editor for The African Review and wrote for The Ghanaian Times and The Ghanaian Broadcasting Company. During her years abroad Maya also spent her time becoming fluent in French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic and the West African language Fanti. Once again Maya found herself drawn to civil rights back in the U.S. when she met Malcolm X in Ghana and decided to go back with plans of helping him start a new organization. Unfortunately right as she got back and settled Malcolm was ass assinated and his plans of the organization died with him. She found herself back in America with nowhere to go, so she starred in many TV productions. She also still worked on civil rights and worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He wanted Maya to be the northern coordinator for The Southern Christian Leadership Conference. When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated she was devastated. It just happened that he was assassinated on her birthday in 1968. Maya was lost at what to do after the assassination and James Baldwin a great writer and friend helped her find her writing. He encouraged her to write and book and then I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings was born. Almost overnight Maya had become famous in 1970 when the book was published. This book is now known to us as an American Classic and a fabulous autobiography. Over the next couple of years she wrote and published many more books and wrote a screenplay called Georgia, Georgia in 1972. It was the first screenplay to ever be filmed by an African American woman and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. While writing Maya became a Reynolds Professor of American Studies at Wake Forest University. Many presidents also recognized her through their presidency. President Ford gave her a spot in the American Revolution Bicentennial Commision, President Carter had her serve for the Presidential Commision for the International year of the Women and president Clinton asked her to have the honor of writing and reading the poem for his inauguration speech in 1993 called On the Pulse of the Morning. In 2000 Maya was honored with the Presidential Medal of Arts and received the Fords Theatre Lincoln Medal in 2008. Some of her documentary films were also nominated for various awards. Finally in 2011 President Barack Obama awarded her the highest civilian honor in the nation, The Presidential Medal of Freedom. Maya Angelou is a role model to me and millions of others. She symbolizes being strong during change and never giving up. Maya accomplished so much in the eighty-six years she was alive. She wrote seven autobiographies and over a dozen works of poetry. Maya Angelou will definitely be remembered for a long time. She is a person who showed immense strength and courage through the good and the bad times. rioreberi1984http://www.blogger.com/profile/01311484613542934283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8532727979026359176.post-11659445701214402502020-05-23T10:57:00.001-07:002020-05-23T10:57:06.180-07:00How the Earl Warren Court Liberalized America Essay The Warren Court refers to the Supreme Court of the United States between 1953 and 1969, when Earl Warren served as Chief Justice. Warren led a liberal majority that used judicial power in dramatic fashion, to the consternation of conservative opponents. The Warren Court expanded civil rights, civil liberties, judicial power, and the federal power in dramatic ways. One way the Warren Court liberalized America, is through the court cases of Gideon v. Wainwright (1963), Escobedo v. Illinois (1964), and Miranda v. Arizona (1966), where these court cases helped define Due Process and the rights of defendants. Another way the Warren Court liberalized America, is through the cases of Tinker v. Des Moines ISD (1969), Engle v. Vitale (1962), andâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The issue of Tinker v. Des Moines ISD was that students were to wear black arm bands to school in protest of the Vietnam War; however the school warned that anyone wearing the armbands would be would be suspended, but th e Tinker children wore their armbands to school (they were the only ones of the group to do so) and were suspended leading to Mr. and Mrs. Tinker filing a law suit claiming that the school violated the childrens right to freedom of speech and expression. The court ruled against the school district saying that students do not shed their constitutional rights at the school house gates. In doing so the court protected what has come to be known as symbolic speech. In the case of Engle v. Vitale, the Supreme Court ruled that prayers in schools were considered unconstitutional, leading to a ban of all prayers led by teachers in school, even if the prayer was considered voluntary, stating, in a way, that there was some sort of ââ¬Å"separation of church and stateâ⬠which is not true. Lastly, New York Times v. Sullivan focused more on the freedom of the press, ruling that ââ¬Å"actual maliceâ⬠must be proven to support a finding of libel against a public figure. Our writers will create an original "Consumer Behaviour on Awareness Among The People About Hair Care Products" essay for you Create order Psychological Effects on consumerà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s buying behavior towards Hair care: -Aim of study: My aim of study is to get knowledge and awareness among the people about hair care products and to know comparison between imported and local brands in shampoo. -Objectives To observe, how many peoples are brand conscious. To observe, what is consumerà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s preference when purchasing the shampoo? To observe, is price of a product motivate consumer to buy another product. To observe, is advertising effect on consumerà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s buying behavior? What is the rationale for study? In ancient times people use to wash their hair with soap and other things. Many herbs are used for hair care. With the change in technology and time shampoo is introduced in markets. Shampoo is a personal hygiene product which is very important in daily life. Now shampoo is one of the growing industry in the world. It contributes a lot in annual income. Therefore, it is essential to examine the reason that why consumers need certain types and brands of shampoo. Usually consumer select shampoo according to their hair types. The main purpose of this research is that we will study consumer preferences and the factors which influences them to switch between brands. Imported shampoo is dominate in markets so the aim of the research is to know how much awareness people have regarding to shampoos or they just switch the brand on basis of convenience of their friends and relatives. And also collect the information about how advertising effect on the psychology of consumer in case of brand switching. This study will be helpful in calculating the assertiveness of a consumers towards the usage of shampoo. And other many reasons for the consumers about switching their brands which have been suited them. The purpose to purchase shampoo is thus prejudiced by all these issues and it is vital for researchers to determine the actual or best leading factor that control consumer buying behavior. -relevant theories: THEORY OF PLANNED BEHAVIOUR: According to Ajzen in 1988 the theory recommend a model which can measure how social actions are directed is called theory of planned behavior it forecasts the incidence of a specific behavior, providing that behavior is planned. The TPB is included of six concepts that jointly represent an individuals real control over the behavior. Attitudes This states to the degree to which an individual has a favorable or unfavorable valuation of the behavior of concern. It requires a deliberation of the results of performing the behavior. Individual norms This refers to the certainty about whether most people support or criticize of the behavior. It narrates to a persons opinions about whether aristocracies and people of position to the individual consider he or she should include in the behavior. Behavioral intent This mention to the motivational issues that impact a given behavior where the strongly the intent to achieve the behavior, further possible the behavior will be performed. Social norms This refers to the usual codes of behavior in a collection or people or larger social situation. Social standards are measured normative, or typical, in a group of people. Supposed power This refers to the supposed existence of issues that may ease or obstruct presentation of a behavior. Supposed power subsidizes to a persons apparent behavioral control above each of those influences. Marketing mix. The marketing mix states to the set of activities, or policies, that a company uses to encourage its brand or product in the market. The 4Ps is one way of describe the marketing mix, and was first stated in 1960 by E J McCarthy. These 4pà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã¢â ¢s are Product, Price, Place and Promotion. But, currently, the marketing mix gradually contains numerous other Ps like Positioning, Packaging, People and even Politics as vital mix rudiments. These 4ps are likely applied in this study that how product, price and promotion attract customers. Possibly, customers should buy low cost product which is same in quality with high cost item. -Research methodology: MARSHALL and ROSSMAN (1989) define observation as the systematic description of events, behaviors, and artifacts in the social setting chosen for study. Observation is method of collecting data by viewing behavior, actions, or noticing physical appearances in their natural situation. Observations can be evident (everybody knows they are being observed) or secret (no one knows they are being observed). The advantage of secret observation is that people are more possible to perform naturally if they do not know they are being observed. Nevertheless, we will typically need to conduct evident observations because of ethical issues linked to concealing our observation. Observations can also be indirect or direct. Direct observation is in which we notice interactions, procedures and behaviors as they occur. Indirect observations are when we watch the results of interactions, procedures and behaviors. I will do research through observation method. According to Earl R.Babbie 2009 Field observation also diverge from some other models in that it is not just a data gathering activity. So I observe customers through field observing method and by mechanical devices. That what should be in their mind when they are going to buy shampoo? Is promotions are effect on their buying choice or else they buy specific brand. To get my objectives study has been conducted in general stores, pharmacies and markets located in Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. Following are the important things what I want to do for field observation. We have to have a permission to observe in the location that we have selected. We should be open with our task, but be alert not to interrupt others. We must familiarize with location personally and observe the actions that take place. While observing, make records of what we have seen and heard. In addition to written notes, we can also record observations by using camera or an audio device. After field observation we should also examine data to get meaningful information out of it. For the observation through mechanical devices, video cameras, tape recorders are placed on the event. Telescopic and microscopic lens are used in cameras. These cameras and devices are make record which can be analyzed later and may be used to demonstrate evaluation report. limitation of research: The limitations of the study are those features of strategy or approach that stuck or influenced the submission or explanation of the results of study. Some possible limitations are: Access: Our study depends on having access to people for surveys. If our access is denied or else limited, then it impact bad on research, the causes for this must to be labeled. Cultural and other type of bias: Bias is when a person, place, or thing is observed or revealed in a steadily wrong way. In research process if we get notice for bias, we must be acknowledged and we should explain what actions were taken to escape extending bias. Mostly there is lot of cultural bias are in Saudi Arabia. Time: time is one of the main limitation for this study because we have not enough time to observe lot of consumers one by one. -advantages and disadvantages of observation method Advantages Collect the original data at the time it happened. It is the only process available to gain certain type of data. Subject seem accept an observational intrusion better then they respond to questioning. This method allows us more clearly to observed that what people do, rather than depend on what people say they did. We get whole event as it happen in its natural environment. Disadvantages Observing someone is slow process and it is expansive also. Observing and recording equipment must be available at the place of event. Incomplete as a way to study about the past. Cannot observe rationale for action themselves. Even small scale observations take lot of time and we are not sure to get the outcomes of our wants, so we have to estimate sensibly when we use this technique. Target market: There is no target market for this observation, we should observe customers as many as we can. -Ethical social issues: DeWALT, DeWALT, and WAYLAND (1998) guide the researcher to take certain of the field notes openly to support that what the researcher is doing is gathering data for study purpose during the research process we should take care of ethical and social issues. Our research must not offend others. We must respect the privacy to customers, and not to observe them as in that they irritate. We must have legal permission from the branch manager to conduct research in their place. -References . E. Jerome McCarthy, 1987.Basic Marketing. Edition. Irwin Professional Publishing. The Kyoto protocol is the well-known abiding playground internationally recognized as a global treaty placing obligations on developed nations to significantly minimize their Green House Gas emissions first adopted in Kyoto, Japan in 1997. Three actions are recommended for the UN to take up on: First, the UN shall bring all the major actors onboard to commit and work towards achieving the emission reduction targets by 2050. Second, the UN should engage in awareness creation to give more focus and special attention towards climate change policies at a deeper and wider level. Third, the UN is advised to lead negotiations to reach at a fair and equitable share of climate regulation costs Problem Statement Growing concerns and levels surrounding the climate condition of the world was vindicated by the late Peoplesââ¬â¢ Climate March campaign in New York City on September 21, 2014. However, the main problem is sustaining the fragile climate change coalition and building on the current momentum to strike a global agreement by the 2015 climate summit in Paris. The coalition is threatened mainly by the multitude of actors involved and their unsymmetrical interests. Itââ¬â¢s important to validate any expense with the exact amount and type of expenditure being considered should be assessed. Analyzing the costs with operating without an EMR system, the 5-year net cost applying a full electronic medical record system was $86,400 per provider (Wang, et al., 2003). An addition, savings in drug expenditures made up the main portion of the benefits of 30- 33% of the total. The rest of the categories of almost half of the total savings came from the decreased radiology consumption (17%), billing errors (15%), and improvements in chargeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The calculation would indicate Rate (x) initial investment (6% x $42,900) = $2,574.00 and minus the initial investment ($2,574.00 - $42,900.00) totaling -$40,326.00. All in all, this can be compared to the second pa yment option presented by the EMR Company, which allows $2,784.00 payments over 5 years with the same discount rate of 6%. As a result, this generates an NPV of -$43,616.00 using the same calculation. It is beneficial to show the NPV calculation that showed two options of financing alternatives presented by the EMR Company and proved it was financially healthier to purchase the EMR with a larger initial investment of $42,900.00 which generated a greater NPV, (Wang et al., 2003). Another Analysis of Second Financial Method The next financial method to be utilized during the financial analysis portion of capital expenditure justification is the Profitability Index (PI). Furthermore, the PI value would sustain the acquisition of this specific EMR system due to it being a positive value. The PI calculation is as follows: 0.92 (-$40,326.00/$43,616.00). The overall PI value is 0.92 The efficiency of some of these inventions was demonstrated in the inpatient setting, but outpatient success is less involved. This movie was not only a success in theatres, there was also much gained economically and promotionally due to the fame of ââ¬Å"The Blair Witch Project. â⬠While it is obivious that this film has become a popular horror film due to itââ¬â¢s darks theme, what is the story behind the film? How does ââ¬Å"The Blair Witch Projectâ⬠affect the Burkittsville towns people and the image of the town? And how does it relate to Danielewskiââ¬â¢s House of Leaves. We will write a custom essay sample on Blair Witch Project or any similar topic only for you Order Now While all of the questions are important to answer, it would be beneficial to talk about this documentary turned film, as if it was just a form of motion pictures. This film was made by two directors, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez. ââ¬Å"The Blair Witch Projectâ⬠is a spooky film made up of suspenseful film footage found years after the death of the three students featured in the movie. ââ¬Å"Montgomery College students Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael Williams arrive in Burkittsville to interview locals about the legend of the Blair Witch for a class project. Heather interviews Mary Brown an old and quite insane woman who has lived in the area all her life. Mary claims to have seen the Blair Witch one day near Tappy Creek in the form of a hairy, half-human, half-animal beast. â⬠Montgomery College students Heather Donohue, Michael Williams and Joshua Leonard take a trip to the town of Burkittsville, MD to capture some interesting footage on a lady accussed of using witch craft. As a female, Heather Donohue is the leader of the three who is driven and becomes the heart and soul of this project. Heather is the only member out of the group who is willing to continuously to film after they hear spooky noises and notice cries outside. Though she is eager to capture as much film as possible, it is evident both Michael and Joshua become annoyed with Heather. The plot of this film climaxes once Jousha wonders off and comes up missing. This part the movie also sets the tone for the following events, the death of both, Michael and Heather. Since ââ¬Å"The Blair Witch Projectâ⬠is considered a horror film, one would expect to see witches, monsters, killer and even ghost but this movie includes none of these scarey figures. This film simply captures the fears that three people gain while being stranded in the woods. Most of all this film shows the attempt of three people trying to capture images about a witch and turn into an interesting documentary. Before Heather, Michael and Joshua decided to go out and film a documentary, they heard about the stories of Elly Keward (Blair Witch). In 1785, Elly Keward was accused of convincing kids to come to her home to draw blood and later found guilty of witchcraft. ââ¬Å"Several children accuse Elly Keward of luring them into her home to draw blood from them. Kedward is found guilty of witchcraft, banished from the village during a particularly harsh winter and presumed dead. By midwinter all of Kedwardââ¬â¢s accusers along with half of the townââ¬â¢s children vanish. Fearing a curse, the townspeople flee Blair and vow never to utter Elly Kedwardââ¬â¢s name again. â⬠In 1809, The Blair Witch Cult book was published, which is considered a fiction genre that tells a story of a town cursed by a loner witch. It is not until 1824 that Burkittsville is found on the Blair website. ââ¬Å"Starting with Emily Hollands, a total of seven children are abducted from the area surrounding Burkittsville, Maryland. An old hermit named Rustin Parr walks into a local market and tells the people there that he is ââ¬Å"finally finished. â⬠After Police hike for four hours to his secluded house in the woods, they find the bodies of seven missing children in the cellar. Each child has been ritualistically murdered and disemboweled. Parr admits to everything in detail, telling authorities that he did it for ââ¬Å"an old woman ghostâ⬠who occupied the woods near his house. He is quickly convicted and hanged. â⬠ââ¬Å"The Blair Witch Projectâ⬠has so many different themes that all can be summed up as dark. This film was made to be informative about the death of the three students, but was also created to be a scary, horrorful and spooky film. Although there are speculations about this film being false or fake, the scenes and frightful events within this film definitely persuade you to believe that its no fiction film. With the collection of dark shots and the noises included in the film it is easy for one to become scared and horrified while watching this film. The scariest thing about this film is that it takes place in an existing town, Burkittsville, MD. The discovery of Burkittsville, MD on the Blair website and the death of townspeople, brought a new perspective for the small town in Maryland. This connection with Blair gives Burkittsville a spooky and creepy image, which relates to Danielewskiââ¬â¢s House of Leaves. Although ââ¬Å"The Blair Witch Projectâ⬠is a movie and House of leaves is a book they both give off an scary or eerie feeling. While both stories are formed due to an experiment, they both are formed into horror stories. Many people see the connection between the two, especially write Nicholas Rombes, who writes an article comparing the horror film and genre. In many ways, the Blair Witch Project and House of Leaves are flip sides of the same coin, experimental works in the guise of horror stories. If it werenââ¬â¢t for the fact that they were from the lowly horror genre, they might have been nominated for Big Prizes like an Oscar or a National Book Award. â⬠(Nicholas Rombes) The reputation that this town has gained due to Blair, is what led Heather, Michael and Joshua to Burkittsville, MD on October 20, 1994 and what might have been the reason they never returned. While these spectacles about ââ¬Å"The Blair Witchâ⬠being true or false still linger, the mysterious deaths of the three students still affect the towns people of Burkittsville. ââ¬Å"If they vote to keep the signs, it wonââ¬â¢t be because they love ââ¬Å"Blair Witchâ⬠lore; they hate ââ¬Å"Blair Witchâ⬠lore. It will be because Burkittsville, which looks almost exactly the way it did in the Civil War, never throws anything awayâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ ¦Ã¢â¬ ¦. Town leaders think Burkittsville could make $3,000. Thatââ¬â¢s small compensation for all the trouble caused by a film that grossed $249 million. But it could pay to fix some broken sidewalks. â⬠(By Faye Fiore, Los Angeles Times) Overall ââ¬Å"The Blair Witch Projectâ⬠is a scary film that displays the experiment of three college students on a mission to findout more about the ââ¬Å"Blair Witch. â⬠While this movie tells the story of a long lost women who practices witchcraft and kills people, it also gives of a sick and scary vibe. This films theme and structure is what makes it compatible to Danielewskiââ¬â¢s House of Leaves. This film has not only brought back the store of ââ¬Å"Blair Witch,â⬠it has also been added to the horror film collection. After watching this film, one should be terrified to visit the woods and graveyards of Burkittsville, Md. A wrong is unredressedwhen retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when theavenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong. With these ferverous words from the introductory paragraph of Edgar Allan PoesCask of Amontillado, the story of Montresors revenge begins. Poe repeatedlystresses the need for revenge due to bitterness and resentment in Montresorscharacter towards Fortunato, but more importantly, stress is placed on revengeby which the victim realizes their injustice towards the redresser. Unfortunately, it seems that Montresor is denied this pure and encompassingrevenge when his victim, Fortunato, during his last few minutes with Montresor, believes that his actions are a huge charade, and not the actions of a manscorned and seeking revenge. Although in burying Fortunato alive, Montresor isable to physically accomplish what he ultimately desired, he is left with an airof insatisfaction judging by his own definition of true and justified revenge. Poe shows the resentment Montresor feels towards Fortunato from the very firstsentence of the story with, The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borneas best I could; but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge. It isnever specified what this injury was to Montresor, but it was so obviously soheinous that Fortunato was not to be spared. Later in the story, Montresorimplores Fortunato half-heartedly, Come, we will go back; your health isprecious. You are rich, respected, admired, beloved; you are happy, as once Iwas. once again showing strong resentment towards the unsuspectingFortunato, whom he clearly blames for his present lower status. We soon seeforeshadowing of Fortunatos impending doom when the issue of Montresors shieldof arms is brought into the conversation as A huge human foot dor, in afield azure; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in theheel.. Even more appropriate is Montresors family motto, translated as,No one wounds me with impunity. S uch a visual depiction and mentalconviction due to family honor and history creates all the more impetus inMontresor to carry out the punishment that Fortunato deserves for wronging him,and more likely the family honor. When Montresor finally captures Fortunato inthe catacombs, the climax of his precisely calculated deed, he revels in thesound of Fortunatos chains rattling, and that I might hearken to it withthe more satisfaction, I ceased my labors and sat down upon the bones. However, his satisfaction soon turns to apprehension when suddenly asuccession of loud and shrill screams, bursting from the throat of the chainedform, seemed to thrust me violently back. He hesitates at this moment, when his revenge is sweetest, when he should bask in the suffering of hisenemy, and finds himself contemplating the shrill screams of hiscaptive! He does eventually compose himself and takes a few more moments ofpleasure from his captives struggles, but his apprehension returns just as heplaces the final brick. He struggled with its weight, showing hisconfusion at the path his revenge is taking. The little pleasure he did derivefrom Fortunatos suffering is further dulled when Fortunato asks Montresor tofinish jesting with him, and return to the palazzo with him. To the shock andchagrin of Montresor, Fortunato does not even seem to accept that he is buryinghim alive! Before he should change his course of action, a riddled Montresorplaces the last brick as his heart grew si ck on account of the dampnessof the catacombs.. Montresor, although successful in his settling of thescore with Fortunato, falls short of what he had said and hoped his act ofrevenge would be. He achieved his revenge, but at a cost to him, theredresser. He is left with such a guilty conscience that he isforced to confess to his crime 50 years later. As the avenger,Montresor also feels he fails to make Fortunato realize that he is exactingrevenge upon him, as shown by his frustration when Fortunato believes that thesituation he is in now is a joke on Montresors account. Fortunato, instead ofbegging for help and forgiveness, as Montresor wanted, laughed! A lowlaugh that erected the hairs upon my head. It was succeeded by a sad voice, which I had difficulty in recognizing as that of the noble Fortunato.. .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 , .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .postImageUrl , .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 , .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1:hover , .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1:visited , .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1:active { border:0!important; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1:active , .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1 .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6237cf0dfec299950915176ce2e9cdb1:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Autism EssayNoble Fortunato? Even after all the infractions he suffered to his person, andall the pains he took in seeking and executing revenge, he refers to Fortunatoas noble? This is clearly his guilty and riddled conscience speaking. One canalso hypothesize that Fortunato did realize what the reality of the situationwas, and cheated Montresor from the satisfaction of his success by leaving himin a lurch as to whether he did the right thing. What ever the case may be,Montresor unfortunately never realized the true revenge that he had hoped hewould exact on his enemy Fortunato. Revenge, although executed exactly asMontresor planned, still eluded him by falling short of h is own expectations. Physically, Montresor had won this match, but Fortunato had ultimately takenaway the sweetness of this victory that Montresor so eagerly yearned. rioreberi1984http://www.blogger.com/profile/01311484613542934283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8532727979026359176.post-8555818182862660572020-05-01T16:00:00.001-07:002020-05-01T16:00:02.397-07:00Statistical Techniques Of Hypothesis Testing â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com Question: Discuss about the Statistical Techniques Of Hypothesis Testing. Answer: Introduction A two-bedroom apartment is to be rented in Sydney. The person has a preference of staying in two specific suburbs in Sydney. The suburbs are Newtown and Hurstville. The person wants to check the average rent that these two suburbs are offering for the two bedroom apartments. He also wants to find out which suburb is comparatively cheaper. To test these results, statistical techniques of hypothesis testing and estimation has been used. Analysis and Discussion From all the two bedroom apartments available in the two selected suburbs, Newtown and Hurstville, a sample of 50 apartments has been selected at random from each of the two suburbs. Their rents per week have been recorded. Thus, the dataset now has 100 observations, 50 from each of the selected suburbs. The population that the person is interested in is all the two bedroom apartments available in the two selected suburbs. From the samples selected, the estimate of the population will be calculated. Here, according to the preference of the person, the first suburb is Newtown and the second suburb is Hurstville. To test whether the average rent of the two bedroom apartments in Newtown is significantly higher than $450, the population of interest is considered as all the two bedroom apartments available for rent in Newtown. The null hypothesis (H01) and alternate hypothesis (HA1) for this test are given as, H01: The average rent is less than $450 per week HA1: The average rent is higher than or equal to $450 per week. To test the above stated hypothesis, one sample t-test technique has been used (Gregory et al., 2015). The test results (Table 2.1) show that the p-value (one tail) is less than the 95% level of significance (0.05). Thus, the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence, it can be said that the average rent of the suburb Newtown is not less than $450 per week. Now, in order to test the cheaper rent of apartments from the two selected households, Newtown and Hurstville, two-sample t-test has to be computed (Slezk et al., 2014). The null hypothesis (H02) and alternate hypothesis (HA2) for this test are given as, H02: The average rent per week of two suburbs are equal HA2: The average rent per week of Newtown is higher than Hurstville. The test results (Table 2.2) show that the p-value (one tail) is less than the 95% level of significance. Thus, the null hypothesis is rejected. Hence, it can be said that the average rent per week for two bedroom apartments in Newtown is significantly higher than the average rent per week for two bedroom apartments in Hurstville. Conclusion The person would thus be rejecting his first priority, which is Newtown if he wants a cheaper apartment in the suburbs. According to the analysis it is clear that Newtown is significantly in terms of weekly rent for 2 bedroom apartments. It has also been seen that the average rent of apartments per week in Newtown is higher than $450, which is probably higher than the weekly budget. Hence, the person has to rent an apartment in Hurstville though his first preference was Newtown. References Gregory, K. B., Carroll, R. J., Baladandayuthapani, V., Lahiri, S. N. (2015). It is a rhythmic tale of a past affair, which may be heroic, romantic or ironic, almost inevitably catastrophic. We do not know where the word Ballad originated from, however it is thought to come from the French Ballade; which means song with a dance. Ballads are simple repeating rhymes, which often have a refrain, and they have been existent as far back as the 14th Century. They were written to be sung, as a majority of people were illiterate. Alternatively Ballads were written to be catchy and memorable; as minstrels went around singing them. Due to them being attractive, people who heard them kept them in mind. Due to this Ballads have been passed down through generations, and some are still around today. Modern day Ballad writers/singers use different techniques and skill. This could maybe be why theyre more popular and successful. Some lucrative modern day balladeers consist of Robbie Williams and Alicia keys; these are very well known names in the music industry. The reason of thrive that they write more complex ballads, and they are longer; also they use more rhyme scheme. Typical Ballads include quatrains, rhyming couplets, repetition, chorus, social and historical context, themes, language of the time and sometimes a moralistic story. The language of the time is important as it shows us how they used to speak, and how it is different from modern time writing. Also the types of themes that Ballads include are hatred, love, murder, death and cruelty. The lines in a Ballad are regular and contain about eight syllabuses each. From these I have chosen to study Ballad, Porphyrias lover and Bishop Hatto. The first poem I have chosen to study is Ballad. This poem is of a young woman who falls in love with a man and devotes her life to him. However after he gets her pregnant he leaves her, alone, to bring up a fatherless child in a harsh and cruel society. Due to this we are given the impression that in the end she kills herself and her baby. I get the impression that the woman in this poem may have killed herself due to the pressure of society; as anything like this was unheard of. To have sex before marriage was outrageous and immediately people would obstracised from society and treated very ruthlessly. This show the societies was forbidden from breaking traditional laws, and were prohibited from having children or sexual relations before marriage; so had to remain virgins. The moral of the poem shows us that the poem was written a long time, as today people are not banned from society for being single mothers or losing their virginity before marriage. The poem indicates that it was written in the 17th Century as archaic language is used A faithless shepherd courted me The word courted is quite an unusual word to be used nowadays, so it is quite noticeable that this poem was written quite far back. As this poem is a Ballad, its typical features are included. The rhyming scheme for this poem is rhyming couplets and contains a chorus; the reason for this was that it had to be as memorable as possible so by including a chorus it was easier to remember. This was because people could not read so the easiest form of communication was song. This ballad uses repetition which is a typical feature of a ballad, I wish, I wish- but its in vain- I wish I was a maid again The repetition of those words gives it a choric effect. It also shows she regrets it a lot and she wants her virginity back. Those quotes also tell the reader that she has got strong feelings about the past. We know from line 7 that she had no experience with men, and that she did not have boyfriends When my poor heart was strange to men This line uses economical flow and allows us to know she had never been involved with men before. Poetic Fallacy is used too When summer bought no fear to fright He came to guard me every night When summer arrives everyone is happy, and it is a cheerful time and that is when he came. However when winter arrived he didntt come When winter nights did darkly prove None came to guard me or to love Winter is a depressing time, it a sad, gloomy time. The theme of the seasons is contrasted, however when she became pregnant he did not love her anymore. Also alliteration has been used When will green grass cover me? This line shows us she wants to die. The alliteration builds tension to the part it draws attention. It also manages to create rhythm and manages to show how desperate she is. Another part in the poem where the writer has used contrasting images is in lines 17-18 I wish my babe had neer been born; Ive made its pillow on a thorn The words pillow and thorn are contrasting images. A pillow is soft and comfortable whereas a thorn is sharp and dangerous. It tells the reader that the situation she has put herself in is very unstable for the baby, although the contrast is very simple; it is very effective because they are both such strong opposites. In line 21 He promised beds as fine as silk and sheets for love as white as milk We find out that he promised her lots of lust and passion, however towards the end of the verse Left me to want a bed of clay We find out that she wants nothing but death and she no longer wants sexual desire; a metaphor is used to make it more understandable and exaggerate the feelings a little His heart seemed soft but it was steel This verse tells the reader that he was nice to her but after she became pregnant, he didntt like her. It also creates an image and tells us the man was unable to love and show his true emotions. In addition I think it also suggests that his heart must me made of steel if he would leave her on her own to bring up a child. Finally in the end we get the impression that she has killed herself and her baby; I wish our sorrows away Our souls with god our bodies clay We do not know what happens but these two lines play on the readers emotions a lot as it keeps them in suspense. The main themes of this poem are sadness, betrayal, suffering, love, hatred and death. The second poem I studied was Porphyrias lover. In this poem Porphyrias Lover, the poet describes the speaker of this dramatic monologue as a man who lives in a cottage in the countryside. In a cold and windy night, his lover, Porphyria, comes to his cottage and lights a fire to keep them warm. The girl then talks of how she loves him. However, the man in this poem has a relatively low social state, since he talks about how Porphyrias struggles to set her passion free from pride. The speaker soon realized that Porphyria will eventually give in to the societys pressure, and he wants to keep her love to him forever. As a result of his possession the speaker strangles Porphyria to death, and then he sits with the corpse for the entire night. At the end he mentioned that he thinks God has not yet moved to punish him The social relevance of this poem is that people had affairs so this gives us the impression that this poem was not set long ago; maybe it was set in the 19th century. At the beginning of the poem pathetic Fallacy is used; to set the mood of the writing, The rain set early in to-night, The sullen wind was soon awake, It tore the elm-tops down for spite, This quatrain sets a negative scene and lets the reader know something is not right. This causes a lot of tension and it gives the impression something bad is going to happen. Also in the poem personification is used to create a negative atmosphere. The next line is the point where very cleverly, the poet manages to change the focus of attention of the reader to the lover without losing any of the effect that the imagery created so far: I listened with heart fit to break. This line shows that the lover was waiting desperately and has reached a certain degree of impatience when his beloved enters the sordid cottage. The room where the lover is waiting also signifies a certain level of sorrow that is caused throughout the poem. When Porphyria glides in she changes the mood When glided in Porphyria straight She shut out the cold and the storm From this line we know Porphyria meant a lot to the writer, and that she brings a lot of sense and warmth to him. Also when she enters the mood changes this clearly shows that Porphyria means a lot to someone. It is very strange as the poem shows the woman is called Porphyria; which is a sexually transmitted disease. This gives the impression that the name was used as a metaphor; maybe like a disease she could not be rid of and maybe caused a small level of unease too. The poem uses erotic language and is quite seductive: Which done, she rose, and from her form Withdrew the dripping cloak and shawl And laid her soiled gloves by, untied Her hat and let the damp hair fall It shows how keenly and decisively the poet was waiting for her that he noticed every single detail- as how she came in straight to him and how dearly Porphyria wanted to meet him. Moreover they also show that the girl is absolutely at ease with her beloved meaning there by that she felt completely at home. Furthermore the way in which she takes off her gloves, and then her hat all show that she meant to spend some time and was not in a rush, and that she felt comfortable with her lover. However as we read the poem the true side of the lover comes out. That moment she was mine, mine, fair perfectly pure and good: I found The writer uses repetition, and at this point we know that he is crazy. As soon as we read this line, we get a picture of a maniac; due to the repetition that is used. Also he states that killing someone is perfectly pure and good, and after this we indefinitely know that he is mad, as it is a horrific thing to kill someone. A simile is also used As a shut bud that holds a bee, I warily opened her eyes again This simile is used to describe Porphyrias closed eyes; they are being compared to a shut bud that captures a bee. Furthermore alliteration is used Blushed bright beneath my burning kiss When this sentence is pronounced the first three words create a beat, however not a normal beat but maybe the beat of a heart, however in this case the heart is not beating anymore; so maybe of a heartbeat that was there but isnt anymore. While reading Porphyrias Lover the main idea that stood out most in the poem was love. Also, an important part of this theme was the effects love may have on people such as fear, joy, pride, vanity, suffering, murder, death and obsession as demonstrated by the speaker. The theme of love appears to be simple, but is actually complex in this poem. Porphyrias Lover is not a sensitive love poem; it is a poem that shows what love can sometimes do to people. In the poem, the speaker describes feelings of fear and of heartache or heartbreak. The third ballad that we studied is Twa corbies. This ballad is one of the best known Scottish border ballads; it is of two ravens discussing were they will dine. They talk about a murdered knight and are unconcerned about the tragedy. They want to dine of the corpse. We are not too sure on when this was written, however we know that it was at the time of the war as it is based on a soldier who fought for the country. I wot there lies a new- slain knight Also the social relevance tells us that people who went to war were forgotten about, and were not cared about after the war. Twa Corbies does not contain many features of a ballad however it consists of quatrains As I was walking all alane I heard twa corbies making a mane The tane onto the tither did say Whar sall we gang and dine today? The ballad consists of four line stanzas which are short, with AA BB rhyme scheme. This was done so when it was sang people would learn it more easily and sing it over and over. Furthermore more it consists of language of the time; also as the language is Scottish it is a little harder to understand In behint yon auld fail dyke I wot there lies a new-slain knight; And naebody kens that he lies there But his hawk, his hound and his lady fair We discover in the end that the knight is left with nothing. His hawk, hounds and lady quickly forget him and his body is lost. He has left no legacy and in fact his body is subsumed by nature. Additionally it states he is a new slain knight so he hasnt been away for months; this revelation reinforces the feelings of desertion and futility. Instead of the knights family staying to protect and honour him after death the Ladys taen another mate Everyone that has ever meant anything to the knight deserts him and this shows us how selfish people were; they no longer care about respecting the knight when they have nothing to gain from the friendship. This makes the reader wonder how much he was loved in the first place. Repetition is used But his hawk his hound and his lady fair It is used to This ballad comes across as sad and cruel and describes the ravens as malicious; however they are merely following the laws of nature. The last section reminds the reader that no one will remember the knight now that he is gone, and also emphasizes that nature and living will not change with the death of one person. In the end, however, the ravens reveal that relationships that are significant, but the understanding that life is an unending cycle and an important part is death. The themes of this ballad are betrayal, selfishness and hopelessness, sadness, death and life. In conclusion all the poems I chose had similar themes, but one definite one was sadness. The first poem ballad was one I enjoyed very much. This was because there was a meaning behind each stanza and it seemed like there was true emotions behind the words. Also AA BB rhyme scheme was used which I found very and enjoyable to read. Also many poetic devices have been used which makes the poem more interesting and plays on the readers emotions and creates dramatic irony. The second poem Porphyrias Lover I thought was ok as the storyline was very dramatic and kept me interested. However the language was very complex and the storyline was a little confusing. Apart from that I enjoyed learning to use the poetical devices and seeing how they were used. Finally the last poem Twa Corbies I did not enjoy very much. This was because I did not find anything outstanding about it. Also as it is written in Scottish I found many words hard to understand. The one thing I did enjoy about it was when I heard it in audio as I thought it was very memorable. Lastly there are hardly any poetic devices so the ballad is not that effective or appealing. rioreberi1984http://www.blogger.com/profile/01311484613542934283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8532727979026359176.post-46014171908044718392020-03-05T14:38:00.001-08:002020-03-05T14:38:03.144-08:00Your Opinion and MineYour Opinion and Mine In every wood in every spring there is a different green. ~ J. R. R. Tolkien (The Fellowship of the Ring) Recently theres been bru-ha-ha over Goodreads. About how readers and authors dont mix. How some authors dont like a lot of the reviews and threaten reviewers, and about how reviewers feel the latitude to crucify writers without ramifications. And I shook my head at the squabble amongst children. There are trolls out there. Ive banned them myself. Oh, you dont want my opinion? I was asked. This is just about siding with Hope Clark? I did not answer. I dont believe in arguing with children. As the persons postsà escalated, demeaning me and others, feeling free and unchecked, I just blocked her. No drama, no explanation, no last retort. My followers deserve better. My time is worth more. When you have a Facebook or Twitter account, or blog, or write op-eds anywhere, you are entitled to your opinion. Deliver it with intelligence and professionalism and expect feedback. But it crosses the line of maturity when one side or the other demands to be heard, demands to be right, and curses the other side for being different. You cannot win arguing with those people. You cant win arguing period. Because when you reach the level of arguing, which means you ditch adult debate, you are flexing your muscles saying your dad is bigger and can whip your dad. Which sounds like just what it is . . . playground banter.à Lately were even hearing about adults taking this squabble to the point of threats. I want to pinch their heads off, on both sides. Nobody able to keep their bloody mouths shut. So many wanting to snap and win. Tell me thiswhat do you win if you indeed best the other side? You dont, because youve exposed your ass to the world and you cant unsee whats been seen. Asses are rarely pretty. Ive received some silly reviews, silly in my opinion. I let them stand, mainly because I recognize that reviewer as having an opinion, too. I dont ask for explanation. Why? The majority of my reviews love the books. Thats my focus, not the oddities. Not the anomalies. Not the folks who feel empowered at a keyboard. Ill let the numbers speak. Obsessing over the one bad review undermines all the good ones, draws attention to it. Frankly, the good reviews prove that the bad review holds less value. All without arguing. I repeat . . . all without arguing. Ill respect your right to review as you please, and you respect my right to write as I please. My stories may swear, bleed or have sex. You may not like stories that swear, bleed or have sex. But I dont believe in the reviewer slashing the author, her life, or her beliefs over how she tells a tale. And I dont believe in an author doing the same against a reviewer. I know where you live, has no place in this profession, from either side. When you take it personal, you show the world you have a thin skin, and that your focus is not where it should be . . . on reading and writing good books. rioreberi1984http://www.blogger.com/profile/01311484613542934283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8532727979026359176.post-36695732479088757482020-02-18T06:05:00.001-08:002020-02-18T06:05:03.856-08:00Management - Service Package Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 wordsManagement - Service Package - Essay Example An elderly care center is a specialized place designed to take care of elderly people in the society. Therefore, a number of supporting facilities must be taken care of before elderly people are admitted into the elderly care center. In some states, it is a requirement that all elderly care centers comply with state regulations concerning the nursing home reform act. Supporting facilities Supporting facilities refer to physical resources that must be in place before a service can be given out. A key component of facilitating goods encompasses architectural appropriateness, which means that the structures should be tailored according to the needs of the elderly people. In terms of architecture, the houses should be constructed in line with the prevailing climatic conditions of the place where the elderly care centre will be located (White & Duncan 263). The houses should encompass various rooms with washrooms, which are well maintained to cater for the needs of the elderly. The archit ectural design should provide for facilities such as places where the elderly can rest whenever they want to relax. The interior decor should consist of quality furniture and the house should be well decorated. The tables, sofas, and other furniture should be made with appropriate designs and from quality timber. The layout of the facility should be placed in a location with a good flow of traffic to avoid any unnecessary disturbance to the elderly. Other essential supporting facilities include facilities to ensure safety against fire, grab bars in bathrooms and toilets, private toilets and bathrooms, safes, and locked drawers. The houses should also be equipped with supporting facilities such as temperature controls and heating facilities. Other supporting facilities include fitness rooms, libraries, activity rooms, theatres, open grounds for exercises, and walking facilities for persons with walking problems (White & Duncan 268). To improve on security within the housing facility, wander alert systems, alarmed exits, automated fire sprinkler systems, and enclosed yards should be considered. Facilitating goods Facilitating goods refer to goods consumed by buyer or goods as well as materials purchased and consumed by the providers of services. The facilitating goods necessary in an elderly care centre include quality mattresses and warm blankets. Quality will ensure that the elderly feel comfortable when they sleep while the warm blankets will significantly reduce the chances of them to feel cold. Sleeping in a comfortable place can reduce the chances of conditions such as backaches and flu. The caregivers should also be provided with mattresses of high quality as well as warm blankets. This will ensure that they do not have any hindrance while providing services to the elderly (Johnston & Clark 32). Other essential facilitating goods, which should be made available in the elderly care centre, include toothpaste, shampoo, as well as uniforms for the elders and caregivers. Toothpaste and shampoo are essential goods, which ensure the general well being and hygiene in the elderly care centre. Uniforms should be provided as they play an essential role in identifying both the caregivers and the elders. This helps in differentiating between the elderly and caregivers. The achievement of explicit services calls for the employment of qualified caregivers who can treat rioreberi1984http://www.blogger.com/profile/01311484613542934283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8532727979026359176.post-74340705329573529012020-02-03T17:21:00.001-08:002020-02-03T17:21:03.114-08:00Parental Responsiveness Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 wordsParental Responsiveness - Essay Example If any case a child gets difficulties in achieving what he or she demands, he or she cries for assistance. Therefore, it is the role of the parents or caregivers to react responsibly after a child cries and assist on what he or she wants. When children start schooling, they meet with peers. During that time, the child adapts other different behaviors. The peer pressure usually affects them more behaviors than those they acquired from their parents or caretakers. The behaviors include good and bad ones where bad ones are easier to adapt than the good ones. The bad behaviors become more challenging to the parents or caretakers while trying to control them from their children. The adolescent stage is where most of the children have a greater resistance in changing the code of behaviors (Staats, 2002). Most of the children who refuse to change their behaviors as guided by their parents or caretakers or teachers, they mess up with their lives as they become mature. At this stage, there are some who drop out from schooling and later regret in their lives. Psychoanalysis is the understanding of the psychological phenomenon and how to treat emotional disorders. Children psychoanalysis is a form of research and treatment involving the children in trying to help them in coping with the problems. The main goal psychoanalysis is to aid children together with their parents in understanding their behaviors and feelings and try to develop them back on track (Palombo et al, 2009). The therapy usually involves less play along with more talks while the children get older towards and into puberty. Parents or caretakers should assist their children mostly at the puberty stage. The method can be used in handling the situation where the mother does not understand the desires of the infant when he or she cries. In most cases a child cries when he or she becomes uncomfortable, hungry, tired, or wants to sleep. Initially, this brand was intended to be a Christmas novelty gift in Germany for industrial client level engineers and buyers. It proved to be a massive success and thus, the company introduced its first building block construction toy in 1965. From there on, there has been no looking back. The official name of the whole group of companies is fischerwerke GmbH Co. KG. It is based in Waldachtal near Stuggart Germany and started operations officially from 1965. Fans usually refer to the company as FT or ft. The total turnover of the entire fischer group of companies is over 545 million Euros with over 3,800 employees worldwide. fischertechnik is one of the divisions in the group of companies, concerned with the design and manufacturing of innovative engineering based construction toys. The company has its operations spread over many countries in the world, 33 to be precise, in which the most significant ones in terms of presence therein, are United States of America (USA), Japan, and of course, the home country Germany. The company has production centers in 16 countries and distribution in over 100 countries. It is currently headed by Klaus Fischer (59), who is the owner and CEO of the entire fisher group. fischertechnik claims to produce world-renowned engineering-based construction toys, so as to foster interest in these subjects among the young which is why it is no surprise that the companys tag line is building blocks for life. Building blocks refer to the pieces or parts of the complete toy, which are usually marketed in a disconnected form. Such toys are called construction toys, since the purchaser of the product is expected to connect the parts in a logical manner so as to construct the complete model. This sort of marketing is very attractive, especially for young kids, who derive a sense of accomplishment from constructing such toys. And it definitely does kindle a scientific interest and encourage creativity in the minds of youngsters. In the following paragraphs, only the fischertechnik division of the fischer group of companies is discussed, and all the facts, figures, strategies and suggestions provided in the text are related only to this division. Product History and Present Scenario As mentioned earlier, the basic line of fischertechnik is the creation of construction toys, which consists of building blocks that can be connected together to form a certain toy model. However, this is a grossly incomplete description of the gigantic range and types of products that the company produces. Initially, the company started off with the basic construction toy model, invented by Artur Fischer. However, in the 1970s, the company started manufacturing on a large scale, models with large number of pieces or building blocks, of channel and groove design, in which pegs protruding from the sides of the blocks could be used to connect to other blocks and construct the complete model. Of course, original models were completely of a mechanical nature, with no electrical or electronic elements to perform any automatic control tasks. Soon, the company started producing sophisticated mechanical models such as trains and bridges, and even included relatively simple measurement devices to calculate various relevant parameters related to the toys such as angles and distances. These toys used mostly hard nylon as material for the pieces or building blocks. As time moved on, the company started manufacturing automotive vehicle models such as tower cranes, and included electric motors, power sources and gears to mobilize the same. These products were used primarily by engineers to simulate and teach industrial robotics. These products were further advanced by the incorporation of electrical and electronic components of the likes of micro-switches and photocells for the purpose of position sensing and feedback control. Later, the company launched its first basic electronic block called the Grundbaustein, which consisted of Op-Amps and Schmitt Triggers, so that Delay Line circuits could be built. In the later part of 1970s, electronic binary-logic modules such as OR, NOR, AND, NAND, Flip-Flops were also included so as to provide means for making elementary branching decisions. Around the late 1980s, CPU modules that could perform process-control were also included so that sequential movements could be pre-programmed. This was first execute d using the Lucky-Logic (LLWIN) software, developed by the company. Today, the company uses all state of the art technologies that the engineering and scientific world has produced in the fields of process control and automation, in a variety of its products. These products include ROBO TX Explorer kit and Robo-pro software (which is the successor to LLWIN), amongst many others. COMPETITION The major world-wide competitor of fischertechnik is Lego, which is far more popular and easily available in USA and even Europe. Although initially in the three major lines, namely Expert, Technic and Mindstorm, Lego was unable to match the technical and flexibility level of fischertechnik, but soon after the launch of Lego Mindstorms NXT in 2006, the former surpassed the latter in a number of technical areas such as color sensing. After this, Lego overtook fischertechnik in the production of the most advanced construction toy models in the world and the latter moved down to the production of less technical, simplified and fun toys, primary for educational purposes. However, on its own, fischertechnik is a huge brand and has a strong presence in the construction toy market all over the world and is much bigger than any other brand apart from Lego. ENTERING UAE: ADVANTAGES It is well known that UAE is one of the most prosperous countries of the world, and for the past few years, has been developing at a lightening pace. This pace continues to increase by the day. In general, the people in UAE are wealthy and have tremendous monetary resources, ready to be tapped and mobilized. Not only is the wealth tremendous, but the total population especially in the metropolitan cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi is also very large. Thus, demand for all sorts of products in UAE is huge. This makes UAE an attractive market for a number of multinational corporations. A number of world famous brands have set up operations of production as well as distribution all over UAE, to tap this huge demand. And as time passes, more and more companies would continue to enter. Due to this huge monetary reserve in the hands of the common people, and a ready demand for all kinds of products, as mentioned earlier, a new trend amongst corporations working in all spheres of business has come about. This is, to start a new enterprise (for new entrepreneurs) or to launch a brand (for existing corporations) in UAE. This is no surprise, since the early sales figures of products of such is very large, and creates an impression in the minds of consumers everywhere in the world. Thus, UAE has become an extremely attractive location for the launch of new companies or products of existing ones. The aforementioned reasons are enough to imply that a brand, especially one as big as fischertechnik does not need to think twice before entering UAE. Of course, there are a number of pre-requisites and formalities that need to be fulfilled before business can be setup in the country. This is discussed in the next section. In the present section, we limit our discussion to the specific advantages and constraints attached to entering UAE. Regarding this, we discuss the kind of demand that is likely to be there in UAE by analyzing the present demand and import scenario in the toy industry, the kinds of consumers that can be targeted, and the kind of problems that the company would be likely to face. Due to the huge amount of developmental activities, migration has been tremendous in the UAE. Thus, there has been a population explosion in the UAE in the past decade or so. This is particularly true in the case of bigger cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The growing economy of the country has led to a fast increasing population rate, which has in-turn led to a huge increase in the demand for all kinds of products, which is the case with construction toy products as well. The total import of toys, which includes baby accessories in Dubai alone, was valued over 603 million Dirham in 2009. There has been an increasing demand for toys, as mentioned earlier, due to the great population in the country for the past few years, and this has led to a corresponding steady increase in the total import of toys in the country. It is interesting to note that in 2007 alone, the total rise in the import of toys was 16%. Another important indicator of the increase in demand for toys in UAE is the rapid decrease in the re-export of toys. However, what is significant to note here is that a major part of the demand for toys is met from import only, as there are hardly any local toy manufacturers in UAE. Companies like Lego and Toys R Us, have been selling their products in UAE, to take advantage of this deficit in local demand and supply. Thus there is great scope for foreign companies exporting into UAE. A smarter exercise, however, for such foreign companies would be to set up local production facilities, such as industrial plants, so that products could be produced domestically to avoid extra costs incurred during export of goods. This applies most appropriately to fischertechnik, because it is a very progressive company with a good financial standing and also because it has very little presence or popularity presently in the UAE. This lack of presence could be used as an advantage by fischertechnik, through, say for instance, a mega initial launch. However, a discussion of the implementation of this strategy is presented in detail later. Another very important point to be noted here is that presently most of the toys are imported by UAE from Asian countries like China, and a small portion is from Europe, USA and Canada. The total share in terms of import is approximately 90% from Asia and 10% from others. On top of this, there is presently, a great deal of diffidence in the minds of consumers towards purchasing Asian goods, since the quality and safety of such goods has been in question in the recent days. This further provides a good opportunity for foreign companies especially from Europe such as fischertechnik to enter the UAE markets, to establish themselves and beat a dying, or at least falling competition from their Asian counterparts. An analysis of the type of consumers who are most likely to purchase products of companies like fischertechnik is an extremely important pre-requisite for beginning or expanding operations into a new country. As mentioned earlier, the high population of UAE provides a huge pool of kids who are potential consumers of toys. However, there is a specific advantage connected to UAE in this regard. UAE is at the zenith of its development, and in the days to come, there will be a huge requirement of engineers and scientists in the country. Of course, it is best for any developing country, if this requirement is fulfilled domestically itself. Most parents in UAE, along with the government understand this present and future need, which is clearly exemplified from the fact that a number of excellent centers of technical education are have been set up over the years in the country. However, it is well known that simply providing good higher education is not enough. Kids have to be nurtured from a very young age, if this demand has to be met. For most parents, it is a dream to see their child become an engineer or a scientist because, and this is particularly true in UAE, they know that it would prove to be a prosperous career. This emotion can be utilized by fischertechnik for its expansion, the strategy for which is discussed later. Thus, to reach the ultimate consumers, i.e., young children, a route through their parents needs to be exploited. Thus, strategies have to be devised so that parents can be induced into buying the toys for their children. Another class of consumer consists of industrial level engineers and teachers who can use high-tech simulation type toy models, to provide for their employees and students respectively, better insight into the working of practical machines. For instance, teachers in a mechanical engineering class could use vehicle simulation toy models for showing the students the real working of such machines. This would make learning more effective and at the same time more enjoyable. Even for big companies, project relate discussions can be made more effective through simulation as well as modelling of the final project, for instance a model of a building when a construction project is being discussed. The existence of Free Trade Zones is a great advantage for any foreign company to setup operations in UAE. Many companies in various sectors such as networking, communications etc have already setup their business centers in UAE. These Free Trade Zones provide access to over 1.5 billion consumers in various countries of Africa, Asia and Europe, since ports in UAE are big trading centers and lie on many of the important trade routes of the world. This allows a great scope of future expansion of companies to nearby nations. However, this is just a secondary advantage of setting up operations in UAE. The Free Trade Zones have one hundred percent corporate tax exemption, zero taxes applicable on personal income, whether domestic or foreign, and no commercial levies. For a company having 51% domestic ownership there is no import duty applicable, however, companies having full foreign ownership are subjected to a 4% import duty. But this can be avoided through a collaborative setup or even through the setup of production centers within the country itself. There are no foreign exchange control or currency restrictions either. Apart from this, there is one hundred percent repatriation of capital as well as profit for foreign investors, which allows them to transfer their entire funds without any hassles. Such great incentives have been provided to foreign investors to speed up the process of development of the country through entry of huge amount of foreign capital. All these can be easily exploited by fischertechnik for its businesses in UAE. The legislative framework within the country is also very favorable for foreign investors. So, setting up of new businesses becomes an extremely simple process for most people. The laws regarding formal aspects of business setup or even expansion are very client friendly, which makes UAE an attractive location for new entrepreneurs since they do not have to face any obstacles. An example of the favorable laws is that companies can operate 24 hours a day, unlike those in most other countries. Plus, the regulation of businesses is extremely efficient which aims to protect the interests of all investors. Apart from the above, another huge advantage of expanding business into UAE is that the banking sector is very sophisticated and provides state of the art services and schemes to their clients. Such an ultra-modern and progressive banking sector has developed due to easing of laws are regulations for speeding up developmental activities in the country. The banking sector is highly confidential which ensures that all high risk financial matters are private. Also, the financial sector of UAE is extremely modern and provides all the best available products for corporations to use. For instance, corporations have easy access to modern financial instruments such as futures and options that can be used to hedge any risks arising in business. On top of this, a number of top financial consultancy firms and hedge funds have setup their offices in UAE, and provide services to other corporations. Thus, financial services of the best possible kind are easily available to companies. The stock mar kets in UAE are also extremely developed and provide easy access to all financial instruments and cheap and effective trading. Moving on to the infrastructure facilities available to companies, it is well known that UAE provides excellent and most diverse infrastructure available anywhere in the world. There are extremely sophisticated communication facilities available to companies. Apart from this, the security related services provided to corporate firms are also very advanced. All of the aforementioned advantages of expanding into UAE make it obvious that fischertechnik must enter the UAE markets as soon as possible, seeing the great benefits that it offers and the fact that till now these advantages have not been fully exploited by similar countries yet. FORMAL PRE-REQUISITES For performing business related activities in the UAE, any company needs to acquire a license. This license can be of three types namely, commercial, which is for all kinds of trading activities, industrial, which is for production or manufacturing activities and lastly, professional, for professional services and craftsmen. However, with regard to fischertechnik, only the first two types are of significance, since a major strategy for expansion would be to setup production and manufacturing activities in UAE, for which trading activities for purposes of hedging etc would be indispensable. Apart from this, the ownership of companies within UAE can be of two types. The first is partnership type of company, in which 51% of the ownership of the company is with a UAE national and the rest 49% is owned by the investor. Thus, for setting up such a company, fischertechnik would have to for a collaborative alliance with a domestic company in UAE. The second type of ownership is called Sole ownership, in which the investor has full control over the company. For this, the company has to setup its business within a Free Trade Zone only. There are, however, some restrictions on the type of business transactions that can be done outside the designated Free Trade Zone. For fischertechnik, a combination of the two ownership types would be most beneficial. For its production activities, it could form a joint venture company with another UAE based corporation, which performs a related business, while for its marketing activities, it could use the Sole Ownership type of company setup, and distribute its products through authorized dealers, since companies having Sole Ownership cannot directly sell their products in domestic markets. This sort of a combination would help fischertechnik in marketing its own brand, while maintaining steady production in collaboration with another company. SWOT ANANLYSIS OF FISCHERTECHNIK The SWOT analysis of fischertechnik is presented as follows: Strengths: fischertechnik has much significant strengths which are presented here one by one. Firstly, it is a huge brand, renowned all over the world, in the field of construction toys and is the best known brand specifically for constructions toys for educational purposes. It has an excellent record of financial performance in the past and has ownership of huge amount of monetary resources, which can be channelized into production and marketing related activities in business in UAE. This financial record gives fischertechnik excellent credit rating, which in-turn can help it to obtain local financing from domestic banks in UAE in the form of loans, very easily. This can help in hastening the start of business by quick setup of industrial and manufacturing plants as well as corporate offices. fischertechnik is the second biggest company in the field of construction toys, second only to Lego, thus it would not face competition from any other company in the area. Since Lego has very l imited operations presently in UAE, it would make fischertechnik an unsurpassable brand once it begins operations. It should be noted that although fischertechnik is next to Lego but the difference between the two is very less and if the former is able to establish a good image in UAE first, then the latter would not be able to overcome this image by entering the UAE market afterwards. Also, it is important to mention that fischertechnik is a very old company, 45 years to be exact, and thus has a pool of experienced and skilled staff possessing excellent technical expertise in the field of process control, which includes aspects of electrical, mechanical, electronics and computer engineering. The company uses the most sophisticated technologies in engineering and specifically in process control in its products, and the technical department, consisting of both experienced engineers as well as innovative minded freshers, who are recruited through an excellent selection process, of fis chertechnik continuously work towards discovering new technologies and incorporating innovative ideas into its products. Apart from these, the company produces a wide range of products for many all age groups including children and adults. Lastly, it is relevant to mention that the company has tremendous managerial expertise and organizational stability. Weaknesses: Although fischertechnik has very few weaknesses, it is relevant to mention them here. Fischertechnik has very small presence in UAE. Its business operations in UAE are very limited and in the inaugural phase. Although its small presence can be used as an advantage, this discussion is presented in the next section. However, limited presence can prove to be disastrous if business operations are not established speedily. This means that if a company like Lego which is the major competitor of fischertechnik senses the slowness in establishment of business operation of the latter, through speedy operation it can surpass and destroy the competitive advantage of the limited presence of the same. Since fischertechnik is a German company, the core employees of the same may not be able to adjust easily to the corporate practices and consumer behavior of the domestic markets of UAE. As a solution to this, the company would probably resort to the recruitment of local staff. Another r eason for recruitment of local staff is that it is mandatory for foreign companies to maintain a certain percentage of local employees within the total workforce. However, this local staff would face difficulty in adjusting to the corporate practices of a foreign company. Of course, this problem would need to be solved through an effective Human Resource Management strategy on the part of the company, which is definitely not an insurmountable task for a company of the likes of fischertechnik. Opportunities: As mentioned earlier, due to the huge amount of developmental activities in UAE, there has been a population explosion in the country. This automatically implies that there is a huge demand for consumer goods such as construction toys, due to the existence of a large number of families. Apart from this, because of setting up of a large number of institutes of higher education in the recent past, the demand for simulation models as educational tools would also be high. This means that fischertechnik has huge scope of revenue generation by supplying this huge demand. Again, setting up of new businesses and expansion thereafter is very simple in UAE, due to the liberal trade policies followed by the government. This is because UAE is a liberal economy and is extremely committed to free trade. Thus, these provide significant opportunities to fischertechnik to begin its operations at an appropriately fast pace. Also, as given in detail in the next section, the limited prese nce of fischertechnik in UAE presently can be used as a significant advantage. Threats: The most important threat is that if fischertechnik is slow in setting up its initial operations, no matter how sound its business plan may be, its rival competitor Lego can detect its main intentions and adopt strategies to work fast and finish the competitive advantage of the former. This is also because Lego already has some presence in UAE and for expansion it would take less time as compared to the time fischertechnik would take to establish itself from scratch. Another major threat that fischertechnik is likely to face is that the core employees of the company, who are mostly German, would find it difficult to adapt to the local conditions and similarly, the local staff would not be able to adapt to the corporate practices of the company. This problem is extremely significant and if an effective Human Resource Management strategy is not adopted, it could destroy all scope of existence of the company in UAE. PESTEL ANALYSIS OF FISCHERTECHNIK The PESTEL analysis of fischertechnik is as given below. It consists of all the macro-economic factors that affect the growth of fischertechnik in UAE. Political Factors: The present political environment of UAE is conducive to the growth of any company, and fischertechnik is no exception to the rule. The company should take full advantage of the liberal regulatory setup, which promotes the development of the economy, which automatically implies the growth of the company as well. As mentioned earlier, various tax exemptions which include exemption on corporate as well as personal earnings, free trade zones etc clearly exemplify this pro-development attitude of the UAE government. Fischertechnik, being a huge company would obviously receive a warm welcome and special treatment from the government of UAE, since its presence in the market would greatly increase the overall development of the country. Economic Factors: The great financial record of fischertechnik would undoubtedly help its initial setup. The overall consumer attitude in UAE is excellent from the point of view of any company, and consumers are always looking to buy products of companies which are reliable and have a good past record. The worldwide brand image of fischertechnik would help it to take advantage of such consumer attitude. If the company pays attention and highlights that it uses local resources, generates employment and works in a manner keeping sustainability, the confidence of consumers is greatly increased. fischertechnik needs to use such a marketing strategy to promote itself so as to strongly setup its business operations in UAE. Social Factors: The population of UAE is diverse, especially due to the great amount of developmental activities going on in the country. Thus, the population consists of all types of consumers. But in general, the populace of UAE is pro-development and if the company keeps in mind not to delve into controversies that affect the religious or spiritual aspects of the life of the people of the country, a rapid growth rate is virtually assured. Technological Factors: Again, due to the tremendous amount of developmental work going on in the country, a number of companies have set themselves up in UAE. This has resulted in a near perfect competition in the domestic markets of UAE. Such competition always promotes the use of latest technology and to an extent, healthy sharing of technologies between companies engaged in the same business. With such a scenario in the market and with the strong technological experience of the fischertechnik, which is known to be a company that perpetually comes out with new and innovative products, there is no doubt that the company would be able to establish itself in UAE within no time. Legal Factors: As mentioned earlier, the pro-development attitude of the UAE government has resulted in a relaxed set of laws and regulations governing the corporate sector. In the past, fischertechnik has not been involved in any controversies that involve legal issues and need to maintain such a record during its operations in UAE. With many Asian toy companies facing legal problems presently, in light of allegations from various entities within UAE that the goods they have exported to UAE are not safe, it is the perfect opportunity for fischertechnik to once and for all destroy its competition by promoting itself as a safe toymaker. Environmental Factors: fischertechnik needs to adopt a pro-environment attitude that promotes sustainability. As a company that promotes science and engineering, it has already established its technological dominance over many companies in the same business. However, a business setup that keeps in mind the environment, which includes green building for its corporate offices and manufacturing facilities that have reduced carbon emissions etc, on the part of fischertechnik can go a long way in the growth of the company in UAE. WAYS TO ENTER: STRATEGIES After the completion of the pre-requisite formalities, the following strategies would be most effective for fischertechnik for its expansion in UAE. fischertechnik should begin its operations by setting up multiple manufacturing facilities and industrial plants at various locations in UAE. The number of corporate offices should be kept low and distributional activity should be outsourced to a large number of authorized dealers and distributors. Such a strategy for the initial setup of business would be very effective because it would remove any scope of import duty and the cost incurred in movement of goods from outside the country would be avoided. This has not been done by any of the toy companies including Lego in their operations in UAE and thus they have to incorporate the extra cost in the prices of their products. Therefore, fischertechnik products would be priced lower compared to others and this would provide a definite competitive advantage to the company. Complete financing should not be from the personal savings of the company and a large part of the financing should be obtained in the form of loans from banks and other financial institutions. This is because corporate savings need to be retained for payment of dividends etc and to take care of any sudden cash payment liabilities that may arise. Also, since UAE has an extremely sophisticated and well established banking system, the loans for setting up business are offered at lower rates, and are usually coupled with attractive and profitable schemes. This should definitely be exploited. The initial target locations should be the metropolitan cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This is because they have the highest population density and thus the biggest pool of prospective consumers. Through multiple authorized dealers for distribution, the volume of products supplied to the cities should be high from the beginning itself. This would generate high revenue from the beginning and would also provide valuable information about the consumer behavior in the domestic market of UAE. After this initial phase, the subsequent targets should be smaller cities which include the capitals of the seven Emirates of UAE amongst others. Next, the strategy to be used to take advantage of the limited presence of fischertechnik in UAE currently is presented. The first aim should be the organization of multiple mega-launch events simultaneously across various parts of the two metropolitan cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This includes large scale exhibitions and sale offers. For such events, special attention needs to be given to the ambience of the same, through the use of attractive banners, posters and pamphlets. This should be coupled with an attractive exhibition of toys, which would include the best products of fischertechnik. Special toys, exclusively for consumers of UAE could also be prepared. A good looking inaugural event is very important to make an impression in the minds of consumers. This effect is much more effective on kids, who would be the ultimate consumers of fischertechnik products. To cater to the special needs and demands of the consumers, a survey should be conducted before these events to find ou t the same, so tha SWOT Analysis of Fischertechnik SWOT Analysis of Fischertechnik ABOUT THE COMPANY The name fischertechnik comes from an original construction toy brand, which was invented by Artur Fischer in 1964. To cater to the special needs and demands of the consumers, a survey should be conducted before these events to find ou t the same, so tha rioreberi1984http://www.blogger.com/profile/01311484613542934283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8532727979026359176.post-75583717334685149282020-01-18T10:09:00.001-08:002020-01-18T10:09:04.585-08:00Ethics Bank BailoutThis paper explores the ethics of bank executives receiving large bonuses despite the fact that they received a bailout. I identify the utilitarian and deontological implications of these executivesââ¬â¢ actions. This paper also examines if the executives deserved the bonuses, did the banks need a bonus, and how the banks should have been regulated by the banks. Keywords: bailout, utilitarian, deontologyEthics of Bank Bailout BonusesCurrently the economy is still in ââ¬Å"The Great Recessionâ⬠largely due to the fallout caused by banks. Banks caused this fallout by giving out home loans to unqualified borrowers.à The banks approved loans they know could not be repaid by the borrower because of the terms such as adjustable rates. These home loans started defaulting; which started a domino effect of bank failures, further driving the economy into a downward spiral. In came the government, armed with astronomical sums of money determined to rescue these large financial institut ions. Enrich, Hilsenrath, and Solomon (2009) state that 700 billion dollars of taxpayer money was used to bailout these banks under the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP).It wasnââ¬â¢t long after these bailouts that these banks continued to reward the executives with large bonuses. Should have these top executives of these major banks that received the bailout money been allowed to receive large bonuses? I say definitely not because it was wrong under the provisions of utilitarian ethics which I believe should have been applied in this situation. These executives were at the helm when these banks failed. Bonuses should be rewards for success not compensation for a title or position. If these banks had enough money to give bonuses then the question of do they really need a bailout should be asked.Furthermore, this bailout money did not belong to the banks to give out as they pleased, it belonged to the taxpayers and the money should have been accompanied by stringent regulation s imposed by the government. A bonus is normally given as a reward for production or as an enticement for favored behavior or performance. On Wall Street a bonus is an equivocal right with no strings attached. Success or failure does not matter. Being an executive in the countryââ¬â¢s most powerful financial firms is justification enough to entitle them to a bonus. This is the methodology that these institutions follow.Executives used deontological ethics because they focused on their rights and entitlements as executives. They decided their rights to large bonuses outweighed the importance of righting the economy which affected the entire country. Meanwhile, these are the same executives that were in charge when many Americanââ¬â¢s retirement plans and investments were depleted or completely wiped out. These were the same executives that oversaw an industry that gave out home loans with impossible repayment terms. It can be argued that the banks caused the entire financial wo es that are still present today.Instead of the institutions terminating their executives for not stopping their organizationââ¬â¢s misdeeds they were rewarded. These bank executives drove their institutions to the brink of demise. Yet, they were still rewarded with multi-billion dollar bonuses. How could this be justified or ethical? According to Freifeld (2009), Citigroup Inc. , Merrill Lynch & Co. and seven other U. S. banks paid $32. 6 billion in bonuses in 2008 while receiving $175 billion in taxpayer funds through TARP. That means that almost 20% of the governmentââ¬â¢s bank bail-out to these banks was used on bonuses for their institutionââ¬â¢s executives. The question has to be asked, ââ¬Å"Could the bank bailout have been 20% less to these banks? â⬠An even more interesting question would be, ââ¬Å"Did these banks really need the bank bail-out money? â⬠These executives took an ethical egoistic approach by accepting these bonuses. Andre and Velasquez (198 9) explain that three steps to apply utilitarianism to any situation to decide a moral course of action. The first step is to identify all the course of actions that are available in a situation. The second step is to determine all the beneficial and harmful consequences of each course of action for everyone affected by the action. Finally, the third step is to select the course of action that provides the greatest benefits after the costs have been taken into account. Letââ¬â¢s apply this theory to the bank executives and their choice to receive a large bonus. First step would have them identify all their course of actions available to them, which was to take or leave the massive bonus. Secondly, was to determine all the beneficial and harmful consequences for each course of action for everyone affected by taking or refusing the bonus. Those affected by the taking or leaving the bonus include the executive, the financial institution, and the taxpayers. The beneficial consequence o f taking the bonus for the executive is a very large sum of money. The benefit to the financial institution and the taxpayer is none. The harmful consequence to the executive would be obvious, which would be the loss of a tremendous amount of money. The harmful consequences for the financial institution would be loss of capital that could be used somewhere else more productive and the loss of the governmentââ¬â¢s confidence. The harmful consequence of the executive taking the bonus would be an increased budget deficit which may lead to higher taxes and loss of federal program funding. Finally, weighing the consequences using the utilitarian theory the greatest benefit would be for the executives to refuse the bonus. The right decision for these bank executives would have been to take a utilitarian ethical approach and not accepted their bonuses. These bonuses hurt the government and the people of the United States by costing the bailout more money than necessary and creating a lar ger deficit. Thus, the act of the executives taking their bonuses was morally unethical under the theory of utilitarian ethics because the consequences were more harmful for the greater population.Instead, these executives prioritized their needs and wants higher than the needs and wants of the people. Financial executives were following the ideology of deontology when they made their decision to take their multi-billion dollar bonuses. According to Alexander and Moore (2008) deontology is based from the word ââ¬Å"duty. â⬠I believe that these bank executives felt it was their duty and entitlement to take the bonus. Also deontologists believe in following the rules even though the act may be considered the right thing to do even if it produces bad consequences (Alexander & Moore 2008).They were not breaking the rules or law when they took their bonuses because there were no regulations or rules against them doing so. They followed the rules and it produced the bad effect of c reating a larger than necessary bailout amount. On the other hand however, the government made the bank bailout loan on good faith. Utilitarian ethics were applied in the decision to give out the loan because they feared the banks would ultimately fail without the money. The choice was made out of consequence. The consequence of failing banks would be a country with an even worse economy and completely ruined financial sector. Thus, the government acted and followed utilitarianismââ¬â¢s theory of the greatest good, for the greater amount of people. The government should have not rushed to give the money to the banks without devising stricter regulations. Restrictions were placed on some executive compensation for participating banks, but did not limit salaries and bonuses (Despite Bailout 2008). If the government had placed limitations regulating excessive bonuses this could have been avoided. Executives would have been able to follow either consequential or deontological ethics b y following these limits imposed.Instead the government through legislation did not impose sanctions against bonuses as part of TARP. By failing to do so they left the door open for banks and executives to make ethical choices on their own. I explored the utilitarian and deontology implications of the bank bailout bonuses. I found that the bank executives should not have taken the bonuses after receiving bailout money from the government by using the utilitarian theory because ultimately the consequences were more harmful than good for greater population. I also explained why executives should not have received the bonuses based on their and their institutionââ¬â¢s performance.I also questioned whether the bank bailout money was necessary because the banks had enough money to give out large bonuses. Also discussed was the idea of the government imposing stricter sanctions with the TARP legislation forbidding large bonuses. I also stated that the bank executives could have been et hically right under the pretense of deontology. Deontologyââ¬â¢s theories revolve around duties, rules, and obligations (Waller B. , 2008). Therefore, the bank executives felt they had the right and duty to an enormous bonus as heads of multi-billion dollar financial institutions. They also followed the rules by accepting the bonuses. rioreberi1984http://www.blogger.com/profile/01311484613542934283noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8532727979026359176.post-91301154692958052992020-01-10T06:33:00.001-08:002020-01-10T06:33:03.353-08:00Evil Hour in Columbia by Forrest Hylton EssayForrest Hylton in his book Evil Hour in Columbia, describes the historical background of Columbia in the context of the re installation of Alvaro Uribe as the president. He emphasizes how the current government has a nexus with the drug cartel. How the current government uses systematic displacement, murder and terror to further the interest of the drug interest group and capitalists interest. When Alvaro Uribe Velez became the president of Columbia on 7th August, 2002, the outlaws became powerful. Uribeââ¬â¢s father has suddenly found wealth, power and influence in the mid 1970s as a political broker. Uribe Sierra was connected to the influential family that joined the upwardly mobile contrabandists to form the infamous Medellin cartel. When he attended a meeting of the drug cartel at Napoles, he was removed from the post as a mayor of Medellin. When his father died in 1983 and left behind a huge debt Alvaro Uribe took charge. As the governor of Antioquia, between 1995 and 1996, formed close alliances with Pedro Juan Moreno Villa, the main importer of potassium permanganate a chemical important for the manufacture of cocaine. Forrest Hylton explores the conflicts that are currently harming Colombian lives, property, communities and region. Hylton shows a sense of hurry, a rush to convey how control, property and power have been appropriated by a few powerful persons who have used the weapons of terror, subjugation and financial depredation to maintain their position. Forrest Hylton systematically builds the case against Alvaro Uribe. He traces Uribeââ¬â¢s record as the governor of Antioquia. He is reputed to have supported the anti-guerilla militias who rendered homeless 200,000 peasants. In the banana export enclaves there was a spate of murders when he became the governor. The authorââ¬â¢s plea reaches desperation when Alvaro is elected for the second term on May 28, 2006. The author is hurt by the jubilation of the US state and other allies at the election of Uribe. He feels an urgency to convey his apprehensions to the reader. It seems that Hylton is perturbed by the re election of Uribe because of the negative impact on the society and economy of Colombia. Hyltonââ¬â¢s plea is well intentioned. He does not want the social struggles to continue, he does not want a state that supports the narcotic carte, he does not want to support the amalgam of the government and illegal perpetrators or crime nor does he want the exploitation of the majority of the people of Colombia. He is making a plea for an end to the exclusionary social fabric that is supported by the capitalist countries. à One of the reasons why Hylton makes a plea is that Colombia is a country where normal forms of confrontation and struggle are difficult. Trade unionism is perilous; in 2006 alone there were 70 deaths of trade unionists. A large number of workers who show opposition are killed. The killings of the worker leaders have been engineered by military and paramilitary forces. Capitalistââ¬â¢s interests are held culpable for dispossessing the Colombians of their land and property (Hylton 35). The modus operandi is to displace people from mining regions and appropriate their property. According to Hylton the effect of this domination on the economy is disastrous. Sixty four percent of the population lives below poverty line. A large proportion of the population cannot afford food, health requirements of the population are not met and employment is scarce. Health care and education is available only to the elite. On the other hand the US government depreciates the Columbian society for having a ââ¬Ëtendency towards violenceââ¬â¢. Hylton feels that such explanations are unjust as neither history supports such explanations nor does the behavior of people in neighboring countries give credence to these claims. The Columbian model Hylton feels has been adapted in Iraq and Afghanistan and may be adapted in different countries that use counter terrorism. Hylton chronicles his account from 1848 when there was popular political system and Colombia was one of the leading Atlantic democracies. He describes in great detail the century and half since then and the downturn from that point and the resistance against the negative forces. His book is a plea for a socially mindful political system, a documentation of the futile attempts to do so and the growth of officially backed narcotics alliance and its ââ¬Ëparamilitariesââ¬â¢. Hylton is trying to draw the attention of the world on the brutal acts of repressions, the wasting of the Columbian agricultural system and the proliferation of coca for the production of cocaine. To sum, Hylton in his book Evil Hour in Columbia points out the social and economic frustration of Columbia with the election of Uribe. He feels that this will perpetrate a regime that is backed by and controlled by the drug lobby on one hand and the capitalists on the other hand. He points out that Uribe has a despicable past. In the past his government has caused displacement of peasants and murders. His installation as the president causes apprehension that Columbia is doomed to another period of exploitation, deprivation and poverty. My question is the same as it s always been: What, exactly, do leftists want to do in Syria? Do they want a No-Fly Zone? If so, do they understand that such an action is considered an Act of War? Are people willing to deal with those consequences? Do leftwing activists want the U.S. to increase its military presence in Syria? Do they want the U.S. to keep arming so-called rebel forces? Are leftists actually calling for further military intervention in Syria? Am I processing this correctly? Already, over 12 nations have bombed Syria, with horrific results. Are we asking for more bombs, but from different planes? What principles are activists operating under? Remember, the U.S. military, like all military forces in the world, is a force for death and destruction - that s it. The U.S. military is incapable of saving people. The point of the U.S. military is to destroy and kill. Yet, I keep getting emails from people saying, We have to do something! Yes, let s do something. Let s build political movements that can actually oppose the U.S. Empire. Let s cut the U.S. military budget by 90% - and that s just the beginning. Let s stop selling arms to everyone on the planet. It would start many unnecessary fights, unnecessary wars. The world would be chaotic. Luckily, this is not the case. The only ideas that are shared through others are in the actions we take and the words we speak. John Ruskin explains this ideology when he conveys, ââ¬Å"What we think, or what we know, or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do.â⬠Ruskin is correct in his philosophy about our actions and behavior. George Orwell demonstrates the quote by Ruskin in his piece of writing Shooting an Elephant. This story not only applies to the first, but also the second sentence of the quote. When Ruskin states, ââ¬Å"what we think or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence,â⬠he is explaining how daily thoughts are not taken into account. He finishes the quote by saying, ââ¬Å"the only conseq uence is what we do.â⬠This says that the only thing people judge are our actions. Orwell has this same thought process. In his essay, the main character is given a decision. Whether to shoot and kill someone elseââ¬â¢s elephant, or to let it live and disappoint the many faces waiting anxiously for him to shoot the animal. He decides to shoot the elephant. Orwell explains how, ââ¬Å"I did not want to shoot the elephant...It seemed to me that it would be murder to shoot him.â⬠However, he does not show or speak about how he does notShow MoreRelatedPolitics And Politics In 1984, By George Orwell1469 Words à |à 6 Pagesââ¬Å"In our age there is no such thing as keeping out of politics. Answer: Introduction Fast Movers Limited (FML) is a moving company based in India. The company will be situated in the heart of Mumbai where it will target to serve a large portfolio of clients. The reason behind the moving business is the need to minimize the hustle that people have to endure when moving and the market potential of the firm (Asperg, 2007, p. 11). Moving is not easy, and it requires a lot of resources such human labor and transportation media such as trucks. At one time everyone has heard a friend or a close colleague complaining of the valuable belongings that were lost or destroyed during the moving process. This was the main idea that sparked the start of the business venture. What if people could pay a company and help them move? The moving business will be a good business, and Fast Movers Limited will capitalize on the opportunity given that there is an extensive market. The company aims at revolutionizing the lives of many people who love to move and leave in different towns. The c ompany will partner with a security company to help guard the items of the clients and ensure transparency to the customers. Market Feasibility The market is large as many people all over the country move daily from one place to another and many organizations transfer their employees to other branches. The market has a small number of players currently who only cover the adjacent towns. People shift out of Dubai at every single month in the year due to various issues such as work transfers or want to reside in rural areas. The Fast Movers Limited hopes to serve these clients and help ease their transition into newer homes. The company plans to target every member of the community provided the person wants to move to other towns with their belongings and house holdings. The industry is growing, and many players are getting interested in joining the industry. India is expanding, and small towns and cities are being developed more to ease the congestion from bigger cities such as Mumbai (Bars, 2016, p. 84). Some people are expected to move away from Mumbai. The company will not only target people moving out of Mumbai but also p eople moving within Dubai. The market growth rate is high with many people preferring to pay for the services of movers to reduce stress. Currently, a few companies are in the market such as Fast Track Relocation and Aryan International Packers and Movers. The companies have been serving the market and have a large clientele base due to the high number of people requiring the services of movers. The companies have no competition, and Fast Movers Limited would arouse competition in the area and thus bring the best out of the other companies in Mumbai. The customers in the market are mostly the residents of Mumbai and shoppers who live in the outskirts of Mumbai. Men and women who buy a lot of things such as furniture and household items in Mumbai or who live in the outskirts of Mumbai will require the services of movers. The movers are professionals who will handle the luggage with the utmost care and transport it to the clients house and even help get the items inside the house if the customers prefer so. Currently, the two main players in the industry serve an average of fifty customers each within a day with three-qu arters being people moving within Mumbai. Entry into the market with a good cost strategy will guarantee us at least twenty customers within a day. The moving business just like any other business has a lot of external factors that influence the decisions of the companies in the industry. The next external factor to Fast Movers Limited will be the competitors. Competitors are very vital in any given industry, and FML will have to critically look at Fast Track Relation and Aryan International Packers and Movers. Other external influences consist of Government regulations and policies, the prevailing economic conditions such as inflation and technology among much more. The policies of the government concerning taxes, minimum wage rates and the price of fuel all influence the decisions made by FML (Eddy, 2014, p. 1). The low pricing of fuel and low taxes will help the business to achieve its set objectives and make profits thus sustaining the survival of the business. Inflation and harsh economic conditions will make the business charge less thus make a little money and threaten the stability of the industry. The industry has very little barriers to entry. The main barriers are the government regulations and the huge capital required. A new business venture will have to meet the governments requirements, meet the set standard of quality, get an office and buy equipment such as moving tracks. Technical feasibility The business like most business uses technology to offer the best services to customers. The options for developing the technology needed largely relies on off the shelf. The technology needed by the company include a computer for handling the customers requirements and processing transactions, an internet connection and good trucks that can fit the trade. The company requires specialized and strong trucks with good safety fittings to hold and protect the items being transported. The computer will help the organization process the business transactions quickly and allow the company to talk to the customers and address any customer queries. The company has to have an appropriate system that enables the client and the company to track the vehicle to know if the items are safe. The option for producing the service is contractual. The client has to enter into a contract with the company to have their stuff delivered to them at their preferred destination. The contract is enforceable by l aw and thus any company that breaches the contract can be held accountable in a court of law. The organization will have a lot of sales and distribution options. The company will have sales representatives at all the malls in the city to market the services of the company (Heckman, 2014, p. 93). The sales representatives will also be at the supermarkets and train stations and bus stations. The company will also produce T-shirts containing the relevant information and give it to the sales representatives. The sales persons will not necessarily need to be in contact with people to communicate the message regarding the companys services. When a person contacts the company, a salesperson will be sent to look at the items in question and give the client an estimate of the cost. Sales representatives will be very vital to the company (Leach et al, 2011, p. 224). The business needs extensive resources for success. Managerial skills and leadership skills are crucial in ensuring the business meets its objectives. The business will need a person to coordinate and control the activities of the business in addition to making decisions concerning the business. The company will have to liaise with petrol stations to ensure that their vehicles can fuel from anywhere and the invoice sent to the company. Equipment regarding vehicles and wrappers are necessary to enhance service delivery. There are many laws and regulations relating to the business. The business has to acquire some personal certifications such as practicing license, quality assurance, environment impact certification and business permits (Wassinger and David, 2011, p. 211). The business has to operate by the law of the city and meet all the set requirements. The company has to be liable for any loss of a clients items and has to do anything to resolve the matter out of court. The industry, however, has few legal, ethical issues surrounding it. The organizations need to carry their activities professionally and adhere to transparency. The client should not undergo any loss on the companys watch. In any case, a loss occurs, the company is liable to restore the client to where he or she is. There are no ethical issues that may hinder the business in the industry. Nevertheless, technological changes have little impact on the business. The business does not rely heavily on innovation and thus may achieve a lot without the need for an innovation upgrade. The business will need to match the emerging billing options to make payment easier and improve service delivery. Human Resource Feasibility The business needs a lot of technical and managerial expertise since it is in its initial growth stages. The business will need a person who can make the right decisions that will propel the business to success. The business needs a leader with interpersonal skills, good communication skills, and quality social skills (Dickinson, Mawdsley and Hanlon-Smith, 2016, p. 22). The leader should be a risk taker and someone who the organization can count on in desperate times. The manager needs to have quality decision-making skills. The business relies on the decisions made by the decision maker to coordinate their activities and achieve a common objective. The business will be owned by an entrepreneur who will play key roles in the administration of the business. The entrepreneur will have to head all decisions made by the company. With adequate systems put in place, the owner will act as a leader and a watchman to oversee, direct and control all the activities of the company. The company w ill be headed by a chairperson, followed by a vice chairperson, then a general manager. Below the general manager, there are line managers that report directly to the general manager. The line managers head the human resource department, the sales department, the finance department and customer relations department. Since the business is in its initiation stages, the business will have a smaller organization structure. The organization will require the use of dedicated employees to ensure the business offers quality services to its employees. The staff on the ground do not require technical expertise as compared to the individuals hired to work in offices. The staff directly involved in moving will have to undergo a thorough training (Meisner and Radford, 2015, p. 786) on how to wrap some items, acquire competent communication skills and how to handle fragile items. To find the right workforce, the company will advertise the open positions through all the media available. The company will have permanent employees and casual employees to be used when work increases. The permanent staff will be remunerated monthly with a basic monthly salary and allowances. The casual staff will be paid a daily wage rate. To motivate the employees, the business will offer both monetary and non-monetary incentives to the employees (Ivanisevic et al, 2016, p. 179). The business will put the necessary policies and proce sses to help the staff achieve work-life balance. The best performing employees will be awarded salary raises promotions and even training to boost their morale. The company will need to offer refresher courses on customer care training on an ongoing basis. The company will have a five-year growth strategy pegged on yearly set targets and goals. The business will formulate the needed strategies to help the business achieve its objectives. It is thus very important for the business to manage and maintain high-quality standards. The staff and their supervisors will attend training regularly to help guide and improve the quality of services offered to a client. The aim is to turn Fast Movers Limited into a learning organization where the staff gets to undergo thorough training and improve their productivity. With growth and development of the organization, the organization structure will change to suit the companys needs. The company may need to create more departments, formulate a governing board of directors and employ a Chief executive officer. The company will have to employ a lot of talented individuals to help steer the company forward. The company will even hire a public relations officer to protect the image of the organization fro m being tainted. As a learning organization, the management will promote career development and ensure that all employees progress career wise. The firm will promote the staff regularly for career progression, and there will be a lot of delegation and succession planning to ensure professional growth for the employees (Gothard and Austin, 2013, p. 273). Financial feasibility The business aims at serving at least 300 clients in a month. The average cost for moving is $500, and this would generate a lot of revenues for the company. As the company is just starting, it would not be able to get a steady flow of clients. In a month the projected sales are 300. The market research shows that the two main initial players in the industry serve close to a thousand clients worth $500,000. Most movers in Mumbai charge an average of $500. The total expected revenue for a month is $ 150,000 and $1,800,000 in a year. The business offers a lot of financial opportunities with the company having an opportunity to make good profits. Moving within Mumbai would cost around $500 for every 10km covered. The long distances are charged less per kilometer averagely at $300 per 10km. The variable cost for 10km in Mumbai is $ 50 with a fixed cost of $150. The gross margin per unit is $450 less fixed costs of $150 to get net margin profit of $300. The company requires a huge investment to start up. The initial investment for the firm will be $1,800,000 with the plant and equipment taking $1,000,000. The company will need to get a lot of machinery that moving requires. The company will operate in rental premises with a monthly rent of $5000. Legal issues and research to take $50,000 and experts $20,000. The operating expenses for the month before break-even are estimated to be $55,000. The estimated payback period for the investments is two years. The business is a risk but unlike most businesses an investor can get payback in two years of full operation. In my research in Mumbai, it is not easy to get a better return like that one. Most businesses give a payback in 4 years. To start up the business a person has to take some financial risks such as mortgaging the house or getting loans from banks and friends (Jandaghi and Hosseini, 2015, p. 38). It is not easy to get the full financing from a one give source. Most financing institutions may fund half the project. A person may seek for partnership with another businessperson with the required. The risk with such partnership the partner may get to own half the company and not get the company fails before paying them back. The banks may agree to finance the business but they will demand more in returns and may sue an individual in case of default in payment. The gross margin per unit is estimated at 60% with a net profit of approximately 40%. The business venture is very attractive with a payback of two years and a breakeven of fewer than two years.
